Can this garam marsala be used to make chai tea?

If you're looking for authentic masala chai, like we would serve you in India, do not use garam masala in your chai, you will get severe digestive issues. Instead, You can take 1 cup of water, 1 teaspoon loose leaf black tea (red label or taj Mahal brand) and combine in a pot. Crush 2 cardamom pods, 2 cloves, 1-inch stick of cinammon and put that into the water as well. Then take a 1/2 to 1 inch piece of ginger , peel and grate that into the pot. Heat until boiling, once it boils put in 1 1/2 cups of milk. Let it come to a boil and reduce flame to low, simmer for about 5 minutes. This is exactly what I would serve you in my house . If your looking for more of a "masala" flavor then you can buy "chai masala" not garam masala. Chai masala and all the other ingredients I listed can be found at your local Indian grocer. Just type " Indian grocery near me" into Google. Enjoy!

its a product of india, their standards are different from those of the us im certain.but the product is listed as %100 natural/ no preservatives and no msg.my family and i personally love this spice mix and this container goes a long long way.

How long will this keep or can it be stored in the freezer to keep fresh?

In general, spices don't go bad, but the expiration date we put on ours is two years from date of manufacture. I don't think freezing is necessary.

The product best before date was 6 months ago. Tried to organise a return or replacement, but eligibility for return expired the day before I received it. Frustrating.

Good mixture of spices and amazing odor and taste!

As near as I can tell it has everything it says it does. The proportions seem correct. There is even a whole nutmeg in it along with some cardamom pods. The smell is amazing, the taste even better. You will never use pre-ground garam masala again, this stuff is really nice.
