Nitromors Original Paint Stripper, Varnish & Lacquer Remover, for Wood, Metal & Concrete, 2 L

Not magic but it does help. Leave it for long enough and it takes layer or 2 off at a time so will save you a bit of energy. Easy to apply, viscous enough that it doesn't drip easily. Smell isn't too unbearable! Used a fair amount up just to strip down layers of old paint of my bannister

Two metal ends of a bench needed stripping for painting, applying this jell-like substance all over just one bench end and leaving it for two days I did expect it to have pretty much stripped the layer of paint but very little came away, on wiping the metalwork clean my only alternative was to use my power file to strip the bulk of old paint that was not removed. I'm very disappointed with this product as it is obviously not a very strong stripper.

Not as powerful as it was years ago so something has changed it took three applications to remove a small patch

Still as effective as it was back in the day. You might need two goes and remember to slaver it on like thickly buttered toast.

Works fine on a single layer, not so good if you’ve got 12 layers of 30 year old gloss to remove as you need to reapply for every layer, and it stinks

Lost it's way to the older recipes, took an age to agitate some paint on a set of alloys, took half the can to finish one wheel to 90% where I gave up. Would cost too much in paint stripper to make it worth using, find another way for your projects.

Couldn't find this in B&Q so assuming that they don't sell it anymore - the stuff they now sell is not a patch on Nitromors. READ the instructions, this stuff burns so you need to wash it off asap if it comes into contact with your skin, wear gloves - the big kitchen thingys are best and apply carefully with a brush. Within seconds you'll see what you're trying to remove starting to bubble and then it's just a process of scraping the gunk off with a scraper, piece of unwanted wood, toothbrush for the tricky detailed areas and then wiping down with a damp sponge. It may need 2 coats, most of the time, 1 coat will suffice. This tin purchased to remove waterproof paint that had been applied to the bricks at the front of my house, trouble was, it wasn't allowing the bricks to breath thereby creating damp. Nitromors did the job.

Compared to Diall paint stripper this product is useless! I was stripping an old painted pine chest. It look 2 litres of Nitromorse to do just one side, compated to 500mm of Diall paint stripper. The Diall was quicker, more effective at removing the paint, only needed one application, had no nasty smell and kept working as I moved it from one area of paint to another...it just kept stripping! The nitromorse has a very toxic smell, needed two applications, (and loads of it), and needed a lot of elbow grease to remove all the paint. The Diall stripper removed the paint and left the wood clean with no effort. I'll never use Nitromorse again.
