They're Terra Cotta clay not sure where the word plush came from. Thanks for bringing this to my attention

Q: How wide is the opening at top?

About 2-3 inches. I wouldn't buy these terra cota plants from Amazon though. Most of them came shipped broken. Your better off going to a gardening center at a brick and mortar store like Walmart, Kmart or Home Depot.
