Neutral & detailed, worth waiting the 100 hours of burn in time
A significant step up from the Hosa/Neutrik XLR "microphone" OCC cables, but I wanted to skip the varieties of in-between Audioquest (probably very good ones, but too cumbersome to try). Had them between the DAC & preamp at first but decided to connect the preamp (EMM Labs) & amp (Ayre VX5) with them instead. After 3 days of continuous burn in, I just wanted to return the Revelation: they are revealing all right, but too sharp, more like a scalpel dissecting through the music, and my wife really disliked what the sound became. Fortunately, patience paid off. After 4 days of burning in (~100 hours), everything just smoothed out: the details are still there, but velvety, neutral sound, bass details so rich I can follow the bass player essentially from beginning to the end of a track, something that I didn't try or care to do before, but now it seems so intuitive. My wife is enjoying the music with me again. I was still skeptical when I first decided to get the Revelation after reading the reviews, but I am pleasantly surprised and impressed how much a difference they make to the sound (Neotech NEI 3001 XLR between DAC & preamp; Crystal speaker cables).
