A heating element and gas fumes in an enclosed tank... not good. At least fill it with water to displace the fumes. There are multiple varieties of high and low density plastic formulas being produced. Many of them don’t bond well with other types. You could make a bigger mess of a hole and a waste of money. This plastic repair kit is probably more expensive than your tank. If you just need a quick fix, try one of those 2 part fuel tank repair kits from a place like Pepboys/Autozone. If you are “dead” set on repairing what you have, do your research and match the material. I can’t emphasize that enough. I made a huge mess of my canoe using the wrong high-density plastic. Some plastics are stamped with the type. Better yet, find a seam on the tank and steal some excess from the sandwiched materials (this is the smartest route).
