ZWILLING Italian Slanted Magnetic Knife Block - Natural Beechwood

Gave as a gift. When they unboxed it, two of the corners were damaged. Otherwise love the design.

I bought this knife block over the somewhat cheaper Messermeister one because it has magnets on the top block, allowing for a longer knife to fit. The top spot can fit an 11.25" blade. This is also made in Italy whereas the MM is made in China, so presumably a better build quality as well. This block is well made, attractive, and appears durable. It's certainly better for fitting an irregular collection of knives than a traditional block where the slots may not match your knives. One minor criticism is that there are some burrs on the wood around cut edges and drill holes, these are easily scraped off but for the price point I'd expect that to be done already. The magnets are recessed into the wood so they don't scratch your knife. They are plenty strong- strong enough that taking the top knife out will tilt the whole block back if you aren't careful about how you remove the knife. Overall it seems very solid and well made.

I think the knife block is beautiful, it sits at an interesting angle, the knives are held strongly by the magnets. It’s a very clean look on the counter. It may take more space than a more traditional knife block but I think it’s a big upgrade from the more vertical style I had before.

Excellent knife block! Fantastic quality and looks amazing. Holds the knives perfectly with plenty of room for our longer chef knives, 11”. No movement of the knives when in the block, very sturdy, heavy and stays put on the counter, even when removing knives. Highly recommend.
