I have an 11 year old that usually wears a 16. Im not sure if this jacket runs big, small or true to size?

I purchased for my child who is 83 lbs. & 50 inches tall. The size 16 was too large and long for him so I exchanged it for the 14. The hoodie was mid-thigh on my child. Also, the overall quality was great, the fabric was much thicker than the same style I previously purchased over several years. This particular hoodie is a little larger than 16 but I'm thinking it is to allow for the minimal shrinkage.

Good purchase

My son is 11 years old but tall and husky. When I opened this up I wasn't sure if it would fit him. But it did. He's about 5'2 and weighs around 100lbs.We haven't wasted it yet so I am unsure if it will shrink.
