Seems very sturdy (only making it of metal would make it more sturdy), but it wasn't right for the purpose we bought it. If you need to lock up welding gas tanks or something large like that, I would definitely recommend this product. We needed to lock a propane tank on a barbecue grill. For that purpose, the hole was too large and the valve handle slipped out far enough to turn it. With a little modification, we made it work well enough. We didn't see that they sell the same product in a smaller size that is for 1" to 3" valve handles, which would probably have been just right for our grill. (Ooops.) If you need to lock a small tank--order that one.

This gas lockout device is very good. I was blown away with the quality and design. As it was such a simple design and kept my gas valve super safe. As I was trenching around my house. Would Buy Again.
