The best helmet lock!
2023 update: I no longer use the T extender, nor do I remember what it even looks like, but I just hook in the strap D loops to the lock itself and bam, ready to store on your handlebar. Of course, someone could cut the straps (in time and effort) if they really wanted to steal your helmet, but this is great for peace of mind, and securely storing your helmet somewhere other than over mirrors/handlebar end. I’ve used the same lock this entire time, the grippy bit eventually got old, crusty then just fell off, but I also store my bike outside in Texas. The lock part still works like a charm. It's so wonderful and handy! The extender is great for anything full faced, but I can easily attach my Gringo without the extender without any problems as I keep the lock on the handlebars of my Guzzi V7. The lock comes with the extender, it's a handy little T shape you just slip through the rings. Best purchase I've made in a while!

Previously used with unknown code set.
This arrived unlatched in a bag with the T-Bar, with no instructions. I found instructions online and attempted to set to 0000 to test the functionality and reset the code. No go. This is completely useless. The fact that it did not come in retail packaging with instructions, and apparently already has a code set which I do not know, makes me wonder if this is already used. UPDATE I went ahead and ordered another, directly from Amazon Prime, that was pictured in retail packaging (roughly the same price too). Upon receiving the new one, it is obvious that I received a previously used Helmetlok from this listing. There is evidence of wear where the lock latches, and because of the unknown code set I couldn't latch it myself, so this is wear from previous use. Compared to the new one, the Hinge on this one is way loose, and the locking portion cants way off to the side and feels flimsy. On the new one the lock and hinge feel solid. See photos. Receiving a used product that is useless due to an unknown code being set is completely unacceptable.

This thing gets the job done.
Works like a charm. There is no guarantee that someone won't just cut the straps on my helmet and take it anyway, but I usually use it at the college where they actually have security cameras so I am comfortable leaving my helmet with my bike for a few ours. The rubber around the lock protects my handle bars from being scratched and guarantees a solid resting position so your helmet isn't just shaking everywhere and slamming on your controls or the gas tank. A four digit code and easy way to set it up definitely sealed the deal for me.

Great Lock
This lock is perfect for anyone who does not want to carry around their motorcycle helmet. It's small enough to carry in your jacket pocket (you are wearing a protective gear on a bike right?) or like I do in a small bag concealed on my bike. But it's also large enough to go around the handles or a rack and still not be hard to put on or take off. The rubber around the lock is also great for not scratching your handle bars too. However you need to be very careful with the top point that locks to the mechanism as it WILL SCRATCH EVERYTHING. If you are looking for a quick and easy way to lock your helmet up while your off your bike this is the perfect item.

Replacement product
I purchased this exact item from a motorsports retail store and loved it. A larger lock area so it fits well around my bike bars and a 4 number combo adds additional protection from theft. My problem is not to do with the current one I purchased here on Amazon. My concern is the buttons you push down to open the lock on my other one, after only 4 uses broke and became unusable. Which is tjjr reason I purchased this one. I have not used my new one yet. However, I do plan on using it this week. As I mentioned earlier, I am worried this one will do the same. I will keep you posted on any issues.

Great for those with Multiple Bike Disorder
I have vintage bikes that do not have built in helmet locks. The Helmetlok is great. It's compact and light enough to fit in a pocket, but easily fits around handlebars or most tubular frames. The rubberized body is a plus. I've had no problems setting or using the combination and I like the way the lock swings outward instead of inward like a traditional carabiner. No, it's not going to stop a determined thief for long, but what thief wants your sweaty helmet anyway?

Look elsewhere
The item seemed like it was used as the default code of 0000 did not work and was instead set to 4000. I got lucky I was able to find the code, otherwise I would've had to return it.

Quickly gets sticky and nasty
The rubberized coating quickly disintegrates and gets sticky and nasty. I'm guessing it was from the sun when outside locking helmets like it was designed to do. I tried soap and water and alcohol to clean it off. Neither worked. Had to throw it away.
