## Overview

BASF Advance Termite Bait Monitoring Stations offer a scientifically designed, dual-stage bait system housed in durable wood and plastic components. Installed discreetly around your home’s perimeter, these stations intercept termites during their natural foraging, enabling early detection and colony elimination with minimal disturbance. Ideal for proactive homeowners seeking a reliable, low-maintenance termite defense solution.

## Description

Advance termite bait stations do not attract termites to your home, but rather intercept them as they complete their natural foraging behavior and before they find your home. Once termites have entered the station, you can install our efficacious Trelona compressed termite bait solution to eliminate the termites. This process of colony elimination ensures your home is protected now and in the future. Termite stations are strategically installed around the perimeter of your home, typically in landscape beds adjacent to the home. Installation requires digging 2½-3 inch diameter by 1 foot deep cavities into the ground. These cavities are placed approximately 10–20 feet apart. Once the cavities are created, the stations are placed within the cavity.

Review: Great for Do-it-Youself - Updated 2023 - Update Nov 2023: I've had these in the ground for 5 years and replaced the inspection cartridge & wood blocks once. I inspected them twice the first year and with no hits, I now inspect them once a year. They recommend inspecting them much more often than that but for me it's a lot of work with many of them embedded in the landscape plants. The only issue I have is that the wood blocks and cartridges tend to rot out due to the wet conditions in the plastic cages. They are buried in the ground, we get some heavy rains, I regularly water the landscape and my soil is not the best for draining water. I should replace the cartridges more often but they are a little pricey. Overall, I am still happy them. Original Review Mar 2018: Just installed a box of 10. I am in a 6 year old house that was termite treated during construction. No evidence or suspicion of termites. I just want some added confidence because I don't think the chemicals they use during construction are effective after a few years. 1. The box contained the stations as shown (pre-assembled) with a 2 page installation sheet, which does not include the poison cartridge, which I think is smart. I don't want a bunch of expensive poison in my yard going to waste if I don't need it. 2. I also think it is smart not include the spider for easily opening the cap. I bought one $26 spider separately. I need 30 stations (3 boxes of 10) to go around my house. If each box had included the spider, I would have paid for two that I did not need. Also, you don't really need the spider since you can open them by turning the cover with a screw driver. The spider just makes it easy. 3. Each station came pre-assembled with the plastic cage, a plastic cap, a block of cut wood in the bottom and the plastic cartridge of cellulose 4. I bought a 2.75" dia flower bulb auger ([[ASIN:B01M7TO2CU) Flower Bulb HEX Shaft Drill Planter, Non-Slip - 2.75 by 24 inch - Bulb & Bedding Plant Auger]]) to drill holes 9" deep for each station. The stations are 6.5" tall leaving 2.5" cavity for water to drain (I picked that suggestion up on the BASF site). The stations went in nice and snug. My 3/8" electric drill motor had plenty of power. 5. A 2 page instruction sheet came in the box. These instructions don't say how close to the foundation to place them or how deep to drill the hole but the BASF site does 6. I also looked over the BASF web site to make sure I was doing everything right: Google BASF Advance Termite & look thru their pdf's 7. I placed each station 2-4ft from the foundation, spaced about every 10ft (20ft max) 8. The BASF web site says to inspect each station every 3-4 months. If there is evidence of termites, then I will replace the monitor cartridge with a bait (poison) cartridge 9. I have a concrete 3 car drive way leading into an integral garage that I decided not to drill into to place cartridges. This left me 30ft between stations so I decided to put some stations out along the drive hoping to catch any termites trying to get to the house under the driveway. If I was really worried I think I would put stations through the concrete. You can search on line and find out how to do that (core drill thru the concrete and I think you install a special cartridge that gets down thru the concrete and into the soil). A lot of work & I don't think I have any termites in the area. If I start getting "hits", I may have to change my mind on this. 10. They were pretty easy to install. I only had to be careful not to hit a sprinkler line. I hit a big rock in one of the holes that made me move over 6".

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a complete set up including covers tmb,tic and covers ?**
A: This item comes with 10 stations, 10 lids, 10 TMB & 10 TIC. Does not include termite bait or spider tool.

**Q: where can I get an inspection cartridge wrench?**
A: Rocky,
If you need the wrench to open this station, they're listed on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Advance-Termite-Spider-Station-Access/dp/B005665CMY
Cheers,
Jonathan
U-Spray Bugspray

**Q: Now i have the stations. but my question is if i am allowed to install the bait cartridge in case i find termite activities. thanks.**
A: My understanding is that you first install them with the wood and bait cartridge as shipped. Then you check them in a few weeks for termites. If you find termites you then replace the bait with poisoning cartridge.

**Q: in the photo it shows a bait station, my question is if the box of 10 bait stations comes?**
A: The listing is for 10 bait stations I copied this from the listing: " Each Station includes a wood base and an inspection cartridge
Needs a spider tool to open the stations (not included) " individual stations are sold for about 20 to 24 buck each on another listing.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy DIY and Money saver!
*by E***K on 7 June 2026*

Just installed easy and saves money! Pest company wanted to charge $1,700 to do what I just did in 2 hours. Make sure to get the right size auger, I got a 2.6 inch diameter one from Home Depot. This kit comes with the baits but no poison, which is fine. I just bought 6 poison cans separate and will install if any of the baits have evidence of termites.
