This review is based off of our first night. May update review after time. But wow! Oh wow! We have used high density Viscose memory foam toppers for years. Always found relief from pain. But after a couple years, even with a 4" name brand topper, we would sink. My elderly grandparents slept in our bed for an overnight visit and called our bed quick sand. We knew we needed a new topper. Our matters is still in great shape with little to no 'dents'. But $200+ for ANOTHER memory foam topper? Not ideal. So latex was the choice this time. I did tons of research. Even considered buying a 10" mattress out of the box that is a blend of latex, Energex and memory foam. But decided to try this topper before sinking a grand. Glad we did! Immediately we are impressed. The 1" topper in firm does wonders on a firm bed. It relives pressure but bounces back. You don't sink. We have a 2" memory foam topper on top of the firm latex topper and it is like sleeping bliss. Better than I'd imagine clouds would feel. I think my aching joints will thank me after a week of sleeping on this new set up. I highly recommend this topper! Bottom line: If you want support that relieves pressure, try natural latex. It is cooler than memory foam but also seems to support under a thin memory foam topper. Depends on your needs really. It would suffice alone if a person preferred a firmer surface. But my body needs a little softer. So we added a thin high density memory foam topper. Awesome combo! Much better than memory foam alone! And the initial odor is weird, but it isn't overwhelming and after putting a mattress pad and sheets over it, we don't notice it at all. This is straight out of the box too. Give it a try! Update Almost 1 year later... Our previous mattress completely failed after our most recent move. We suspect some individual coils had seen enough movement (coil mattresses really don't like being moved) and simply collapsed when being transported in the moving truck. We ended up buying an extra firm, maximum coil, double sided mattress with a 20 year warranty. Crazy right? Well, we added the same toppers to our new mattress to hopefully prolong the life of the set and bring some relief to aching joints. While we don't need this topper to enhance the firmness of our new bed, we are using it to help extend the mattress life. We still have the 2" memory foam topper on top of the latex topper for extra softness and pressure relief. As far as this topper goes, it still looks and feels brand new. If we ever decided to stop using it on our king bed, we would cut it in half to use on our kids twin beds. It really does seem it will hold up for years to come. Since I got this, I've gotten a great night's sleep !!! This stuff is what the big company's use to make their mattresses good, and charge thousands of dollars. Buy 3 inches and firm !!!! Put it right on the floor or any flat surface and yer good to go. I've already told a few friends about it, they got it and thanked me for recommending it to them. Some with back issues too, and some without. This company should give me commission !!! Hehehehehe Just kidding... To finish up: I have one of those 3 hundred dollar frames that go up and down like a hospital bed and it vibrates, and this mattress moves perfectly with it too...better then a thick mattress. I've had 2 back surgeries and a bunch of cortisone shots, so a good sleeping surface is what I've been looking for, and I've tried everything !!! I still have an over $2000 mattress that I'm trying to get rid of. This will last for years, decades or how every many years. This has not gone out of shape at all in the last year and a half. You definitely need to get the cover for it though, it's only a few more dollars, but trust me, you'll be happy. And if you need to go on vacation, you roll it up and take it with you. I can't tell you how much it's changed my life !!! 3 inches "firm" is perfect !!! I wouldn't recommend to anyone to sleep on their stomach or side or you'll have back problems down the road. If you don't sleep on your back then maybe get a medium firm or soft, but try and change the way you sleep. Trust me, you'll feel it in old age. See if your grandparents sleep on their sides. Nope...lol Anywho, this is your last mattress you'll be buying unless you own a wolverine. Oh.... Ps: My girlfriend, just told me after reading this, that she sleeps on it just fine on her side, when she does, so....lol...i guess it's good for any sleeper. What the h*** do I know...I only had back problems for years and saw dozens and dozens of doctors... Hahahahahahaha Anywho, buy this bed, it's not just a topper, it's a bed that needs no box spring, as long as you have a flat surface to put it on, or a flat frame thinger like we do. Your welcome ! :-)

One inch doesn't sound like much, but it makes the bed ever softer and ever so much more comfortable. Also, with an already thick mattress, my deep pocket sheets still fit. There was no smell when I unwrapped the topper, so I used it the same night it arrived. Had considered purchasing the 2" topper, but glad I didn't. The mattress is nearly new, but even though it's padded, decided a little bit more padding would be nice. But didn't think I needed 2" worth of padding. Good decision. Highly recommend if you want just a little more padding under you, and feels great on your hips and shoulders.
