Oh goodness this is the best book to get
Oh goodness this is the best book to get. The writer is so so so good at explaining everything you need to know about notes, scales, etc. If you never took a class in your life prior this is the book you want. I already have experience reading music.. I just needed to jog my memory and this did just that! The only downfall to this book is that he doesn't teach you a lot about your left hand which is what I need to get better at. But if you need to learn everything having to do with music I'd get this. Something so confusing to some would really enjoy how he words things. Simple and straight to the point!

Very intuitive & better than his "How to play piano". -- esp has play by ear hints.
I am learning to play keyboard. I played 5 brass instruments in high school, play harmonica, play african drum, and sing , although not perfect pitch.I want to use this to learn to play Kawasaki 37 and 49 key keyboards. Then perhaps later piano, maybe. I need it in order to learn to compose for piano , which is my real goal. I made an A in music composition at Rice University without playing piano and with all my music experience I think this goal is possible to achieve. This looks like it could be a good step in that direction.Be aware that "keyboards" are more like organs than pianos, except no foot pedal on keyboard v.s. on both organ and piano. It has buttons instead. I just wish it has a button for trombone, which is my favorite instrument.

A worth your time and money book.
Written quite well. Surprisingly fast way of learning to play the keyboard with modest effort. (Larger print might be more helpful).

Fantastic book for a beginner!
I have bought few books on learning keyboard and they were difficult for me. But this book made me play keyboard in a very short time by constant practice with the exercises given on the book. The author takes you step by step in learning how to play notes and rhythm in differen stages. I highly recommend this book for those who want to learn keyboard the easiest way. One thing I like about this book also is that the author teaches you how to use the left hand with exercises on them which my other books are lacking. It's just like having a tutor on your side!

Beginners Keyboard
I am an older lady who has always wanted to play the piano. I was able to buy a lovely Casio Keyboard and was eager to begin. This is my first teach yourself piano book. It is a fun way to learn to play but still a bit advanced for me. As soon as I get all the piano basics learnd I will certainly go back to it.

How to play the keyboard
This is the third time I have ordered this book. Gave one each to my grandsons to encourage them to play their keyboards at home. Instructions are easy to understand and gave me confidence in my ability to play my keyboard which was given to me about 4 years ago. Having had no piano lessons ever, this book walked me through the learning process. With a little dedication on my part I practiced every night for at least 1 year. What a joy!!!! I love hearing myself play!!!!

Good Start for Beginners
I'm having a blast with this book. It's not going to make me a pro, but I've been able to pick it up and start playing some tunes right away, and that's what I wanted. I already knew a little about reading music, and I once played years ago, so it was pretty easy to pick this up and start playing, but I suspect the approach would work even for those with no previous musical knowledge. It's well written and well paced. If what you want is just a quick introduction to playing your keyboard, this will serve.
