If they can open their door, then toddler-proof the hallway and stairs too so then don't get into trouble or hurt while you are sleeping! My daughter has adapted really well to being in a toddler bed and now jumps in herself when we go into her room and she is ready for a nap or for bed. It takes her a while to get to sleep sometimes so now she is able to read books or play with toys for a little while without being frustrated like she was in the crib. If she gets up before my husband and myself in the morning, she'll usually play by herself now giving us a little bit more time to sleep :-) Even though this bed is made out of plastic, it is very durable and the plastic is thick and sturdy.
