I'd bought what looked to be the same actuator from another vendor, but it arrived in pieces. I returned it and bought this one instead. This one is solidly built. It fit perfectly. It included the hex key and test LED. And, get this, it came with instructions, diagrams, and tips. (And there's more on their website in case that's not enough.) Despite all the online videos of homeowners replacing these themselves, I still had unanswered questions and some concerns about whether I should attempt it. Not only does Retrozone put their name on these, they have multiple ways you can reach them for support. That gave me the confidence to attempt this DIY repair. (I never did contact support, because the included documentation answered all my questions.) Installation is easy. (In my case, the hardest part was squeezing myself into the space adjacent to the damper.) And now both HVAC zones of our house are functioning again. Highly recommended.

Simple process to replace a failed Honeywell damper actuator. Works very well. Including an LED to help with debugging any wiring issues you might have to deal with is a nice touch. It looks to be better made than the original, and is working quietly and reliably. This replacement lacks flow limit levers and is only suitable if your setup works with the damper fully open and fully closed. It would be 5 star if it had them. Some Honeywell actuators have levers for setting partial close and partial open limits to control the minimum and maximum airflow, respectively. If your system requires that flexibility, you'll need a different actuator.

this is the second one of these I have installed. Both replacing the two separate zones previously controlled with the honeywell motors. These were a direct replacement. The first one I replaced about a year ago with no problems. If i'd have been smarter, I'd have just replaced both zones at the same time, but regardless, they are done now and these motors work as expected for much less.

My HVAC had two Honeywell M847D damper actuators. They had lasted about 12 years (I oiled them about 5 years ago) when last week I noticed the air conditioning was cooling the house unevenly. Investigating, I found the actuators stuck. I unstuck them but found both had teeth missing in the large gear, so neither would reliably control the damper anymore. I'm glad I found these RZ3-1M replacement units. They arrived 3 days faster than the estimated delivery date. Initially, I was concerned that the shorter hex head threaded bolt it came with would be a problem, so I replaced it with the longer bolt from the Honeywell unit. However, when I went to install them, I found the shorter bolt was actually the better choice, so I put them back. With the shorter bolt my Allen key wrench just fit over the top side of the unit and could tighten or untighten the bolt. The instruction manual provided was very useful. They also come with a 24V troubleshooting LED that can be used to check that the actuator is receiving power. I didn't need it, but did try it out to confirm they worked. Could be handy in the future. The units installed in just a couple of minutes and worked immediately. The home was back to normal cooling shortly after. The unit appears well made, came with good instructions, was easy to install and worked out of the box. I with every repair project went this smoothly!

Exactly the right part. Works perfectly! Super easy to install and saved me hundreds of dollars compared to having the HVAC company put it in. Literally took 10 minutes. It does help that my husband is an electrician but honestly when I saw how easy, and inexpensive this was to do I can't believe a company would have wanted to charge me $450 to replace this. Almost seems a little like a scam. Do it yourself!!
