What is the key used for?

Hihi, Slip onto base of tube to assist material towards top..........use on a toothpaste tube also.

what is the color of the product?

The color of the sealant that comes out the tube is black. Like your black gasket sealant that is used by permatex.

Could this be used to seal a motorcycle crankcase?

I have used it to seal a vintage Lotus (Ford) crankcase and a professional mechanic in town uses it to seal Porsche and BMW crankcases so I would venture to say the answer to your question is yes.
