Not a reliable product.
Used it once and now will not power up. It is not a power issue, the radio just stopped working within a month of installation. The factory warranty service outlet just notified me the board was corroded by water entry from the top. This radio was mounted in a center console hard top open fisherman. It is supposed to be at least water and moisture resistant. How can they call this a marine radio, water proof, when it will not last a month is a marine environment. This is not a marine radio, thus false advertisement.

I played with it a little and found the heat sink was super hot on the radio
MUST READ, DO NOT BUY! I wish I could give piece of junk less than 1 star. I installed this in my 2002 jeep wrangler. First issue it didn't have the power to run my 4 speakers, 2-5.25" front and 2 - 6.5 inch rear. It would play for about 30 seconds with mediocre sound quality, then get quite and stop playing. I played with it a little and found the heat sink was super hot on the radio, I dripped a single drop of water onto the heat sink and it boiled it off, that's how hot it was. Way to hot to be in a dash and have wires around it, asking to burn up my jeep. I had to get a small amp to power all 4 of my small speakers so the radio won't over heat. A few months in I randomly would get a mis-wiring warning and it wouldn't power on even though I checked it and all was good. Now it is stuck in protecting send service mode just like everyone else mentioned. Never seen moisture, at most humidity in the summer with no doors, but never direct moisture but from what I've seen it likely has internal "moisture "damage... this radio is JUNK....

Do not buy this stereo - all the the other reviews are right (they were just too late to help me). I had this installed on a boat for less than a year. Uncovered the boat from the winter and it as in protection mode. Sent it off to a repair center who sent it back to me saying there was corrosion inside from water. It could have only been humidity and Kenwood says this is not covered under warranty.I don't see how they can label this a marine radio - its false advertising if you ask me.A very dissatisfied customer who will never buy another Kenwood product again.

I did not install in a boat. However, the Kenwood unit installed beautifully in the dash of my Chrysler Crossfire with no problems. I did use an aftermarket wiring harness available through AMAZON. On the harness, you will need to move and match the pin positions to the car side and use a volt meter to discover hot wires. Moving pins easy by inserting a needle to disengage lock tab. The radio has great features and functions to tailor to your listen.

Great Budget Receiver
I've been a fan of Kenwood decks for 20+ years. They're easy to use and they've always worked flawlessly for me (can't say the same for Sony or Blaupunkt). For such a cheap price, you're getting some great features in this receiver, such as the 6-channel 4-volt preamp outputs. It was easy to hook my amp up and the internal crossover, among other functions, makes it simple to tweak your system. It was also simple to connect the bluetooth. Two thumbs up!Update: Bluetooth has been flawless and it sounds great. I wish the display was a little brighter. It can be difficult to read if the sun hits it right. I was also hoping for improved FM reception over the stock receiver. Didn't happen. It will only pull in strong signals. I partly blame the boat's 'antenna', and use the term loosely because it's a cheap piece of wire running along the gunwale. I plan to add an aftermarket antenna.Update 2: Added an aftermarket antenna. Simply ran down the bottom of the gunwale, in place of the stock antenna. FM reception is greatly improved. I really like this deck!

Don't let moisture get to the deck in any way
I put this stereo on my ultra classic a year ago. Everytime I wash my bike I put the rain cover over the front. When I'm done the radio either doesnt turn on and acts up. I replaced another kenwood deck with this one and that one went into a protection mode and was ruined. Don't think I'll be goin with another kenwood.

It's ok. Not nearly as "marine worthy" as I had hoped. Have it on my pontoon and after a rain storm half of the buttons stopped working. Finally started working again after a couple of days. Keep in mind this was under a Bimini top. Shouldn't happen with a marine stereo.

Good sound, Bluetooth & App not so great
good sound quality. However, the Bluetooth and app operation does not work very well. Very slow and clunky. The head unit is in our cabin. if you leave the cabin, less than 2 feet, you loose the controls and the sound quality. We just direct connect.
