I've never tried it but, if I were to give it a try I would do the following: If you dont mind a frosted appearance, spray some Rustoleum "frost" or "seaglass" on it first to make it a primer. Then use your alcohol inks. As a final step spray an art sealer on it. You can always use rubbing alcohol or non acetone to clean up any excess you don't want. **Q: Are these paints good for painting rocks?** A: They're good if you wanted to do a background "wash" but not used as a "paint ". These are inks and less opaque than paint. These are best suited for paper and surfaces like that. Chances are, they'll fade or wash off of a rock through time. I'd stick with a metallic paint marker instead **Q: Are these colors opaque/show up on black without white ink beneath?** A: Yes. These are opaque and super shiny. They look amazing in every piece I've used them in. **Q: Does anyone know if these can be used with an airbrush?** A: They are a thin consistency so I don’t see why not. But alcohol inks do get sticky when they dry.
