Alcatel 1 (2021) - Smartphone 16GB, 1GB RAM, single Sim, Volcano Black

It’s a good phone shame the old sim couldn’t use it and had to be returned. But love the phone for youngsters.Thanks to the seller for refunding and including postage of return. Amazing, I would shop with them again for other items.

I bought this because the old mobile I use for travelling died, and I had another trip almost immediately. This came up in a comparison of phones for the best phone under £100.It's flimsy and light, and when using the charger provided, it gets very, very hot, very, very quickly. It is annoying to use - it's ludicrously easy to hit the button at the bottom of the screen that returns you to the main landing screen, making anything you are trying to do incredibly tiresome. It's also ridiculously slow - pages take so long to load that it's a flashback to 90s Internet dial up days. Worst of all, it has very limited capacity - I needed to scan and upload my passport for a hotel check in, and it simply couldn't cope: repeated insufficient memory warnings. Websites frequently crash for the same reason.The battery drains very fast - it is unusable as a smart phone, so I've been using it as a hot spot so I can use the WiFi on my normal phone whilst travelling. The battery drains entirely within about four hours. If I charge before bed, and don't use anything at all (and switch off) then it's down to about 60% by morning.Just to set this into context - the phone it replaced was an 8 year old Sony Xperia (issue with the charging port was an uneconomic repair). This brand new phone performs significantly more poorly in absolutely every respect.In short, save your money: I wish I had!

Great for the price. Wanted for my mum as it's her first smart phone just so she can get to grips with the touch screen and WhatsApp etc.Slightly slower than other phones but it's easy and does everything she needs it to.

I love an Alcatel, I've had various phones from them over the last 20 years. This one we bought so my husband can video call his children.Easy to operate (they are 10, 11, and 12) and have no problems navigating it themsleves.Easy to set up; we chose a PIN to open.Might not be an all singing all dancing high end phone; but if your looking for a good quality basic with a decent battery life - this is well worth a purchase.

It's cheap for a reason , not worth the hassle , charging point is faulty and battery doesn't hold a charge

This phone is great light to carry very easy to set up I have always liked anctal phones buying my partner one in a couple of weeks
