From the instruction sheet: 1. Select a piece of wood for the cribbage board. The typical size is 12" x 5 "x 3/4" or if you are using a cribbage board emblem, 15" x 5 "x 3/4".

What size self centering bit would I use with this template?

Use a 1/8" bit. Self centering bit not necessary when using the template and drill press.

1) what are the dimension of the template? Width x Length? 2) what is recommended method of holding template to the workpiece while drilling?

1) 4" x 13 3/4"2) have not used it yet. I just plan on clamping the corners while drilling, moving clamps as needed to accomodate the drill press. FYI- the entire plate is very thick and heavy. Seems like it will work well.
