No! He does down the chimney and lands in a pot of boiling soup and then runs off.

Would this work as travel entertainment for kids on an airplane?

I don't think so. It is too big for that with lots of small pieces that could fall and get lost.

It is a sturdy foam. We really just love this toy! Big favorite in our house!!

What is the age range for this toy? My son just turned five (still in preschool) and our last kid. Hoping it will engage him for a few years?

Brandi, in my opinion, if your son loves the 3 Little Pigs story, then it'll engage him for a couple of years. It's an awesome toy for them to role play over and over and even change the ending if they want! I purchased it for my 4yo son and he still loves to put it together and play out the story. It'll be almost a year since I puchased it. The box said for ages 3+. Hope this helps your decision.
