I bought this set after many years of destroying regular hand shovels around my house. I have very tough soil where i live. The Hori knife makes quick work of digging and removing weeds. The shears are great too!I would have given 5 stars but the pommel came loose on the knife, possibly my fault. I may have been a little over zealous in my weeding, butI would buy this tool set again. I've been able to get dandelions out completely with the knife, and other weeds dont stand a chance when using the knife.I've used the shears to trim rose bushes, and lilac bushes and even small tree branches.All in all a great set of gardening tools.

5 Stars for the knife! Love the hori hori knife! Very sharp and sturdy, digging through roots and tough places. Great serrated edge for sawing through roots and for breaking up root balls while planting. All around great tool and well made!2 stars for the pruners. The bypass pruners, however, are very disappointing. I really enjoyed using them at first. Stayed very sharp and cut through tough stems. I do not like the lock on the bottom. It seems to lock easily while using the pruners. Frustrating. But now they are no longer useable since somehow they got unaligned while pruning something and won't fully clip or retract back. They're beautifully made, love the craftsmanship of it, but they aren't great for heavy use. These maybe could be used for light trimming on houseplants or bonsai. I think I was too tough on them. Better stick with Coronas!I also do not like the scabber for the knife, it needs to be leather instead of whatever that black material is. The knife is so sharp it gets caught every time on the serrated part.

I received my Hori Hori Knife and Pruning Shears Gardening Tool Set without issues, in original and undamaged packaging. The knife itself is of excellent quality. Literally 5 minutes after I opened the package I made my way to the garden ton start de-weeding. It truly is an excellent tool. No other de-weeder i have used until now compares to how easily this tool brings up weeds, completely to the root. The shears, however, were a different story. They were not as useful, and it took quite a bit of effort to cut through a small sized branch. My Fiskars shears were much more useful. For this reason and this only I am giving this product 4 stars instead of five.The Hori Hori knife, however, is amazing. I would recommend this Gift Set to others, and I will.

Fantastic tools. I've gotten some for my wife, mother, and step-mom for Mother's Day. They all loved them. I liked my wife's so much, I got my own set to use as this was a much better Hori Hori than the cheaper one I bought for myself. As I really felt it was inappropriate to take my wife's set as it was a gift to her. ;-) The Hori Hori is a really cool tool that I didn't know I needed, but we all now use it a lot. And the Pruning Shears are great too. I haven't tried them on any hard wood, but they work for trimming back the blackberry bush, tomato plants, and the like.

This was a Christmas present and the result is hardly what I'd want from such a present. After one use, the wood on the clipper handle splintered and that was that. Look elsewhere.

Nice quality tools. I am giving it 4 stars because it was a gift and the box it came in was smashed. No big deal for the tools but it made it extremely hard to wrap and I ended up taking them out and repackaging them.

All I can say is WOW! I didn't expect this set to be so good for the low price it had, I was wrong. The hori hori is solid & came with a sharpener in the sheath & the cutters are amazing. Buy this set, you won't be disappointed.

Durable full tang construction on knife and pruning shears. Heavy hammered rivet construction securing the wood handles to the metal inner tang. Extremely sharp edges right out of the box. Nylon sheath for hori knife stiched and riveted. Approximate 3/4" capacity on the shears which is small for landscaping, but well suited for gardening tasks. Look like they should last.
