Reed Thickness/Strength five(5) is for those of you who have been playing wind instruments for years and have built up your exhalation powers accordingly. Reed Thickness/Strength one (1) or 1-1/2 is for those like me who are just starting out playing woodwind instruments as a complete beginner. Reed Strength is indicated inside yellow squares:- On the front face of the box/packet at the top. Also on the side of the box underneath the picture of the Saxophone. Also on each individual reed packet, and finally stamped on each reed itself.
