It goes on very dark, but once blended around my hairline with my fingers it was perfect. It does stain my finger, which is actually good because it covers my grey edges and stays on all day. UPDATE 12-13-2025 I'm so irritated. I had this on subscribe and save, I received one that no matter how much I pushed, no product would come out, I returned that one, next one works fine, then the next one again I cannot get any product out, but by then I am pass the return date, so I just chucked it. My next order arrives and once again I cannot get any product out! I ended up having to break open the container and use a safety pin to get enough of the product out to coat the safety pin. I have alopecia, so this product was very important to me. So, that is THREE bottles I received that were totally worthless.
