On the left side, the bag unzips about 1/3 of the way, on the top all the way, and then down the right side more than 2/3rds of the way. It does not open up completely like a clamshell, but it is quite easy to slide your clothes into the space remaining that isn't fully unzipped. This design is to make it easier for the bag to compress when the second zipper is used. **Q: I already roll m clothes in ranger rolls.
