Hogwarts Express LionChief 5.0 Electric O Gauge Train Set with Bluetooth & Remote

This train set did not disappoint! The engine and tender are metal while the cars are plastic which is standard for lionel trains so the heavy engine can easily pull the lighter cars. The engine and cars have great detail, and the cars light up. The train sets up very quickly and is easy to use. The lights, sounds, and smoke are really great and making running the train a lot of fun. I tried the Bluetooth app on my phone and it works well, but the remote works the same so you don’t need the Bluetooth if you don’t want to use it. The only downside is if you have the remote off but the track plugged in it makes a beeping noise to indicate it is trying to connect the Bluetooth. I haven’t checked the instructions to see if this can be turned off as it is a bit of annoying sound. The track in the set is a good size (curves to make a 3’ circle and 4 straight pieces), but I got it with 4 extra straight pieces to make sure it could go around the Christmas tree easily.

I REALLY love this train. I bought it intending to check it out and then buy one for each of my three kids families that have kids if I loved it. I had to return it because all three families said their kids would rather have a cheaper version that they could play with at their ages. (Four and under.) This one is the kind of train that you buy for a display and you make your kids just look at but not play with for the price point. So well made and worth it and I highly recommend it. I may go back and buy one for myself for them to look at at grandma's house. It's the perfect scale IMO. I also have the larger G scale that we still have from when my kids were little but this O scale is better for creating a village effect and my love for this train had me spending an entire vacation plotting village purchases on Amazon😂😂 My husband didn't complain till after the vacation was over or I would have stopped earlier 😂😂 BUY IT!!

Our train arrived exactly as it was detailed on the website, and it runs perfectly. A few quick things of note that people should be aware of. 1) The smoker is turned on by default, on the train section you'll want to turn it off first before use if you are not loading it with smoke fluid before it's first use. This will keep the smoker from getting damaged. The switch is hidden where the conductor would be if it was a real train... It is a little hard to see at first. 2) Some of the car connector sections can be a bit sticky, so it might be difficult to hook your train together... don't worry, it is just stubborn. Good news is it holds them together well, you just need to get them together in the first place. 3) If you do not unplug the tracks, and turn the remote off, it'll make a beeping noise. Don't forget to unplug the track before turning it off. Otherwise it is a lovely train set, and a lot of fun to have running around the tree.

Amazon had this train for the cheapest price! Everywhere else was $100-$150 more! Great value, wonderful quality, and we played with this train all night for days for Christmas! Easy to assemble, easy to take apart and store for next season! If the lights turn off, it means your train is off track and its ALWAYS an easy fix! Mistakes happen all the time by kicking, or bumps! Just put it back on the track! This train will last for years! Our family loved it and so did social media! LOL! Perfect for around the Christmas tree and was so beautiful to look at at night! Get your kids a Lionel locomotive train! My grandmother always said they were the best and they really are! This one one reminds me of the train set I had as a child! It brought back so many childhood memories! Every child deserves a train set! Get them the best of the best! Lionel!

The loco and tender are nicely heavy. The track takes some effort to snap together and take apart. It stays firmly connected in use. It has no on/off switch so I plugged it into a power strip with its own switch. The remote is pretty easy to use, but might be improved by a firm "stopped" position. It moves around the track fine. The bell and horn buttons are fun. Volume can be adjusted. I switched off the smoke without trying it. The chuffing sounds are okay but I mostly turn them off. Haven't downloaded the Bluetooth app. The announcements are fun, but the sound quality is scratchy. There's one where Hagrid tells Harry to "stick to your ticket," but sounds like he's saying "stick to your chicken." It's my only disappointment with this set.

This Harry Potter train set by Lionel is super nice. I'm not a train buff so I will leave all the technical stuff to the experts and just comment on my set up experience. I'm happy to say my shipment arrived without any visible signs of damage and my out of the box experience was completely trouble free. Everything went together smoothly and my train was happily chuff chuffing along in almost no time at all. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was how very nice the train engine is. It is a beautifully detailed high quality piece that pulls the 4 included cars with ease. The engine sound effects are great! The supplied controller is a nice size and weight and it makes its Bluetooth pairing with the engine perfectly every time I turn it on. If you're a Potter fan and you are looking for a quality themed Lionel train set then you should take a look at Hogwarts Express. You'll be glad you did.

very very low quality product. disappointed with Lionel. Train has a mind of its own and cannot be controlled. super loud as well. was looking for something to go around the Christmas tree. kids are super disappointed. What is even worse is the way Amazon is handling the return. beware, Amazon for what ever reason wants me to pay international shipping on this item. will think twice before ordering a bigger ticket item like this from Amazon.

The product description says that the Dementor Coach is included in this package but this is incorrect. After issuing a replacement request and describing the issue to customer service, they proceeded to send the same item to me. At that point went to the Lional Trains website and got the item number for both versions with and w/o the dementor coach. The Lional Store on Amazon does not appear to have the item number I want. This can only be found on the Lional site or other providers. The problem is that the web description being used is for a more expensive product so if you're paying for this product your paying about $40 too much depending on the going rate for a dementor coach. The product however is outstanding. Even if I don't get it through Amazon, it's typical Lional quality and loads of fun for a train enthusiast. I ended up purchasing from Lional direct. It takes about the same time to deliver and only cost $14 more....for the correct item. Correct advertising is key here. At least Amazon made returns easy. Thanks for that.

Me gustó mucho el tren. Es un poco ruidoso pero está increíble para fans de HP. Altamente recomendable! Y como recomendación, luce mucho más adquiriendo pista adicional. Solo tuve un detalle con una parte que supuestamente venía incluida, de acuerdo al instructivo, pero no era así. Escribí a la empresa y nunca recibí respuesta. el departamento de Servicio al Cliente de Amazon fue muy amable y me ayudó con esto, pero la empresa de Lionel... fatal... La información contenida en el instructivo es muy limitada pero podrá armar el tren sin problemas, solo mucho cuidado con el manejo del tren ya que sí está un poco delicado. La App para manejar el tren vía teléfono está sencilla pero funciona muy bien! Fue una excelente idea ponerle foquitos a la pista y que el tren paseara alrededor de todos los regalos de Navidad!

My first order come with open box, looking like was return before and truth enough didn't work as it should, after I got new set in original and unopen box train works just fine. Overall happy with the product and would recommend

I have been waiting to buy this Lionel Hogwarts train set for so long. I am in Australia and it was only ever available in America. When I saw it on Amazon and for a huge discount to be delivered to Australia I couldn’t help myself. I also got the additional dementor carriage. It is incredibly well made and I love all the sound effects. The steam out of the train is adorable too. I can’t wait to put it under my Christmas tree this year.
