I had the entire left inside page to write my message to her. (Some customers were concerned about written messages smearing. This is NOT a problem using a fine point permanent Sharpie pen - no smears whatsoever!)The wood, which I believe to be cherry, is top notch quality expertly laminated to a rigid, durable substrate; it should last forever! The laser-cut design is delicate and expertly crafted. This card is a true work of art. The card itself is made of real wood so no two cards would ever look the same due to the grain in the wood. It is finished beautifully and will not give you splinters or anything of those sorts because the wood has been finished very smooth. The front on the card has a heat cut out on it with a red statin ribbon saying I adore you on the front of the card. There is a place on the back to write your own personal note (I plan on using a sharpie type pen on mine so it really shows up on the wood. It comes in a gift box that you can eithr wrap or just give as is like an envelope. Makes not only a great gift but a conversation piece as well. The craftsmanship of the card shows a great attention to details and the care they put into making the card. She wanted one last card to make up for the cards she wouldn't be able to give in years to come. That's how she was, more worried that she might let us down by not "being there" than she was by the fact that she was dieing. Dad keeps this card on display in the livingroom as a memorial to their marriage. He tears up when he talks about it. It's to be expected, they met when they were teenagers and had been together since. Most of us dont get to know when our final Valentine's day is. We don't typically get to know when it is time to say our final goodbyes to our loved ones. She knew, but most of us will not get to know. If you have someone who means something to you, tell them now. I can wholeheartedly recommend this card. It's well made, the wood is beautiful and it's actually fairly thick. It's not some cheap veneer. This will last. And thank you bestomz, I really feel like this brings my Dad some comfort and will for many years.
