I rarely leave reviews for products, but this powder has improved my quality of life tremendously. I have tried so, so many canker sore remedy products with various degrees of success, but this blows them all away. I’m still in disbelief about how well this product works, but I have been using it for eight months now with massively positive results. For my whole life, anytime I bump my inner cheeks while eating, scratch any area while brushing my teeth, absentmindedly bite my lip even slightly, etc, I will get a canker sore. I used to live in fear of this happening, because the majority of the time they develop into horrible, red, angry canker sores that take days to weeks to heal and frequently leave scars. I get a fever and swollen lymph nodes all down my neck and back during that time, and just generally feel like trash. Awful. Every single time I feel a canker sore coming on, or even sometimes just preemptively when I bite myself, I apply this powder to the area 3x per day. Yes, it burns. Yes, it tastes strange and intense. BUT! I have not had a SINGLE bad canker sore since I began using this! I am shocked to be typing this, as I had given up on these types of products after trying so many. For me, this is nothing short of miraculous. After the first few successes with this, I cried in relief. Some tips: - Scoop some out with a clean spoon and use a clean, damp finger to apply it directly to the damaged area. Wiggle your finger around gently during this time to collect moisture and help it penetrate. Hold it there until the pain reduces. This often takes around 2 minutes for me. - After the pain reduces, tilt your head to allow it to pool only in the affected area for a minute or so, moving and stretching the area to really work it in and allow it to absorb. - Don’t swish it all around your mouth unless you really need to hit all the areas! It changes my taste sensation for around 12 hours when I do this, and makes some foods taste awful. Doing it the way I have detailed above keeps it from getting on my tongue, avoiding this problem. Sometimes when I am dealing with several possible sores, though, I do this anyways. Better some bad tastes than canker sore hell. - Apply it over a sink so you can let the saliva that it triggers run out of your mouth, keeping the powder from spreading to unwanted areas. - Rinse thoroughly and repeatedly with clean water after spitting as much as possible out. - Do it after brushing your teeth before bed. I have much better results this way, often clearing out the area in 1-2 days. I cannot recommend this product enough. Whoever formulated and made this, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. You have truly changed my life for the better and I will buy this product forever.

Like a lot of the other reviewers here, I get canker sores regularly. The biggest help I've found is brushing daily with a tea tree oil toothpaste (natural antiseptic.) Regular use of tea tree toothpaste took me from 3-4 sores a month, to 1-2 a month. I was still really suffering even with fewer sores. I decided to try this product specifically for the claim that it speeds up healing. When I felt the tell-tale irritation of a canker sore developing, I used this product right before bed. First, it's not easy to apply. Trying the "pinch" method that the label describes didn't work for me. It barely got on the sore directly. So I sucked on my forefinger to get it wet, then dipped it into the powder. The powder stuck to my finger and then I held it directly against the sore. I did this 3 times to get plenty on their. The package is correct that you start salivating immediately. I recommend doing this over the bathroom sink because I was drooling while I was pulling my lip open trying to reach the sore. Once I had a good amount on there, I tried to just let it sit for a minute. IT TASTES TERRIBLE. It's a weird mix of sour/citrus/bitter. I had to fight the urge to spit it out as I started to swish it around. I didn't last the full 3 minutes recommended. I went to bed and repeated the process again in the morning. Anyway, on the plus side, it did numb my mouth. On the minus side, the numbness was gone in about 45 minutes. But the big take away for me is that the sore was gone by the end of day 3. My sores usually last at least a week. I will definitely use this product again at the first sign of a new sore developing. Don't expect miracles. The sore will still hurt until it heals. But I experienced a shorter duration using this product twice a day (morning and bedtime.)

I have had a long history of horrible canker sores. I’ve tried all of the solutions, salt rinses, milk of magnesia, alum, oral wound mouth wash, all of the canker covers and they mostly just managed the pain. One day in another desperate attempt to find a better solution, I found this. This has improved my quality of life when I have canker sores. It is not an overnight solutions for the really big ones, but it does aid in fast healing and helps reduce the pain. For smaller sores, or ones you catch early, it almost does heal it overnight in my experience. It tastes horrible and leaves a weird layer in your mouth but I just brush my teeth after to get the taste out. Please try this if you’ve been in misery when you get canker sores. I would not rate this so highly and leave a review if I didn’t think it actually worked. I truly have felt your pain and have been in the trenches with canker sores. I believe this product is the best solution I’ve found so far!

I’ve used Canker Shield for years, and the original formula was nothing short of incredible. It consistently stopped canker sores in their early stages and healed fully developed ones in about two days. That version contained several true active ingredients—most notably aluminum sulfate along with folate and B12—that clearly contributed to fast healing and reliable prevention. Unfortunately, the new formulation omits those key components entirely. What remains is essentially a mild, desensitizing powder made of baking soda, salt, clay, and herbs. While the new blend may offer a momentary soothing effect, it no longer performs anything like the original and feels more like a placebo product than an effective treatment. For me, it has become an expensive powder that doesn’t stop sores, doesn’t speed healing, and doesn’t provide the benefits the original product was known for. I genuinely hope the company reconsiders this change, because the original formula was outstanding. The current version simply isn’t comparable in effectiveness.

I absolutely hate this stuff. The taste is vile, it dries out my mouth and leaves an aftertaste, it does nothing to relieve the pain and in fact irritates it further, and it needs to be applied for 3 minutes before swishing it around with saliva for another 3 minutes. It being a powder and the required application time makes it unrealistic to apply in certain areas in my mouth. But it does do something, unlike almost any other non-prescription medication you can find for canker sores. It does heal the canker sore slightly faster. It does make some fleshy film over the canker sore (for protection? I don't know). Unlike other products though, it does nothing to soothe the pain. If it helped with the pain, this would be much better and be worth the cost. 2.5 stars, but Amazon doesn't allow half stars, so it's 3.
