I've purchased a few of these power supplies over the last couple of years. I've never had one fail and they have been really solid. I use this one to control the speed of fans that I have in a home purifier. it just works well. The voltage setting is difficult to get just perfect because the knob is very small. it is hard to get like 5.00 volts DC perfect. I don't need that much precision in what I'm doing so if I turn the knob and it's 4.90 or 5.24 it doesn't affect what I'm doing. so with a caveat that it's difficult to set a very precise voltage, this unit works really well for variable speed or prototyping type work. I'm sure I'll buy more of these in the future because they work so well and are relatively inexpensive.

This power supply replaces the original 12V 5A power supply for an old Night Owl security camera system. It runs the DVR and has the correct barrel plug. There is a blue power indicator light on the box. It is working so far.

Punches the power. There is a certain company out there offering vacuum tube preamps that are being dragged down by the way too cheap power supply they provide. Don’t throw it out or send it back as it’s actually a great little preamp when it has strong clean well grounded power. This is the answer. Make a world of difference.

Nice, slight standard deviation on cord. The C13 receptacle is slightly shorter than the standard (the recess is plugs into) as is the female C13 plug conector. This is not an issue when using the supplied cord (perfect match), but I had a problem when I used a standard conforming 12" C13 cable. 5* is reserved for perfection, hence the 4* review. I would not hesitate to buy this again.

worked great for some extra lights i had laying around! would definitely recommend. the cord isn’t super long, but if you’re okay with your lights starting a little lower, it’s perfect!

FINAL UPDATE: The power supply is currently connected to a 22TB hard drive in an external enclosure which serves as a backup and is off most of the time. On the occasions that I have used it -- sometimes for hours at a time to copy files -- there have been NO unexpected shutdowns. The power supply has worked reliably for the better part of the year. UPDATE: I checked the power supply and found that the 120V cord was not plugged all the way into the power supply. The loose connection may have tripped the power supply's built-in safety protection causing it to temporarily shut down. I plugged the cord back into the power supply, making sure it was firmly seated this time, and the power supply is now working again. I'll do some further testing with an external DVD/BD drive to make sure I've solved the problem. ALITOVE did reach out to address my problem, so I need to give them credit for that. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I connected the power supply to an external hard drive that was used periodically. The power supply itself was connected to a surge-protected switch and was off most of the time. One day I had the hard drive switched on, and while the hard drive was idling, the power supply suddenly gave out. I used a different power supply for the hard drive and it works fine, so the hard drive is not the source of the problem. Overall, the total usage time of the power supply was probably around 20 hours.

I used this unit to pre chill a 12V cooler before loading it into the vehicle. The original 12V 5A power supply lasted 20 years. This one was fried by the 3rd use.

They work as needed. We have head board strip lights in our hotel cost hundreds per room to install. Shortly after each transformer has been dying and when we deal with the contractor who installed them, the cost is so expensive we would rather leave them off. I found these and tested a couple and found they worked great as replacement transformers. Plus the added bit to go from 2 wire to the barrel connector was perfect. We have sense used them in a number of 12v projects and recently purchased the 24v similar ones as well to replace back light mirror transformers. So as of today i have purchased nearly 52 of these not including the the 24v ones and likely will be purchasing more as needed
