Wonderful
I just brought this home and played through the book. (I consider my piano skill level to be what is often referred to as early advanced.)The arrangements are fresh, a nice blend of traditional and contemporary. They feature interesting variations that definitely enhance and accentuate the moods of the original carols. Melody lines are emphasized and don't ever lose their importance. Brahm's Lullaby is beautifully intertwined with Silent Night. The arrangement of How Great Our Joy features rhythmic patterns throughout that just make it fun to play. Greensleeves has interesting rhythm patterns, too. Jingle Bells is arranged as a piano rag, what fun!!The pieces are not so difficult that you can't play through them on a first read, but ARE difficult enough to require practice, particularly to bring out the many nuances in line, harmony and rhythm shifts.I am adding Mr. Chung to my list of favorite arrangers.
