Critiques I read for other brands described a cheap rough finish. This one has a nice quality finish. I bought it for my new S&W 9mm Sheild. It is difficult to load the magazine by hand, especially the last few rounds. This loader makes the job easier, but with a few issues. When depress the spring to insert the first round, the round carrier cocks back and jams if compressed too far. That issue goes away after the first round is in. For the remaining rounds, this loader is a big help but it still takes a good bit of effort to get the round fully inserted. Perhaps it will get better with experience and weakening of the magazine spring with use. But it wasn't as easy as some videos you might see would have you believing. I guess I would recommend this loader since it is much better than nothing and probably works just as good as any other similar device. UPDATE 8/29/2020 After using this thing for the last 4 or 5 days, I'm upgrading from 3 stars to 5. This device does what it is suppose to do. It presses down the previous round to provide room to START the next round in the magazine. Once that round is in far enough to hit the tab on the device that is pressing the previous round down, you have to raise the device far enough to clear the round you are inserting. Then you can use your thumb to press the round in completely. This will take a little effort on your part. But all this device does is make room to start the next round. It's up to you to muscle it in the rest of the way. If you are expecting to be able to drop a round in, press the device down, and the round be loaded, you will be disappointed.
