That is because the wood glue you use on the biscuit and the two pieces you are joining is what hold the joint together. Also, you generally don’t want the biscuit to fit in the grove exactly, because that leave with no adjustment for the two pieces being glued up. Finally, if you are insistent that the slots in the pieces being joined are a tight fit, you can simply set the biscuit cutter to make a shallower cut. **Q: After 2 uses the blade is burning the wood what causes this?** A: I have not had this issue and know the answer to your question. So far I have added biscuits to connect two sets of two boards. Both sets of wood were pine so not to hard. I usually get burning with harder woods. **Q: I'm a bit new to this. What's the difference btwn this product (or similar) and something like the Domino 500? I don't understand the price jump.** A: The domino is a fancy dowel, it's not worth it. Biscuits are for laminated panels if you don't want to make tongue and groove. Dowels are usable for all joints and are the best for strength outside of traditional joinery. But, biscuits are better than dowels for thin (1/2" to 3/4" thick) panels due to how small the dowels get by that point. Dominos combine the strengths of dowels and biscuits and are good, it's just far cheaper to just use both dowels and biscuits instead. **Q: After receiving my biscuit jointer and making several test cuts, My biscuits just fall.
