Ransom Notes - The Ridiculous Word Magnet Party Game, 3+ Players

I picked up Ransom Notes for game nights with friends. We were looking for something quick, easy to play, and guaranteed to get laughs when people are tired of the same old card games. We played with 5 of us on a Friday night: players pull random magnets, draw a prompt (like “Tell someone you've clogged their toilet at a party”), and scramble to build the funniest sentence. It took under a minute for everyone to get the hang of it. Pros Instantly funny, even with people who don’t consider themselves “game-night kind of people.” Incredibly easy to learn; there are no complicated rules or long instructions. Endless replayability thanks to 840 magnets + 250 prompts. Great for group settings or parties; works well even with larger groups if you team up. Compact packaging: very easy to store or throw in a bag for travel. Cons / what to know Humor leans toward absurd and sometimes crass. If you’re playing with kids or more conservative folks, you might want to pre-screen / skip certain prompts. Some magnets feel a little small if you prefer larger print / words. This could be tricky under dim lighting or for folks with large hands. For a tight group of 2–3 people, the game is less fun; best with 4–6+ players. Especially good for game nights, holiday get-togethers, or just killing time with friends. Definitely recommend!

Cards against humanity meets mad libs. My 24 year old son and I adapted the game for 2 players and had a great holiday afternoon playing. There are several suggestions for game adaptations and it's very easy and hilarious to play. Our favorite responses came together like a short, two chapter tale following the single prompt: "describe the history of humanity": "UFO releases rogue beast. Darkness." "We grunt bro." The only negatives are that the word magnets are challenging for a person with joint pain or hand related mobility issues to take apart, and they are kinda low quality with just an unprotected paper front that wants to separate from the magnet backing as you separate them from each other, and that I predict will fade very quickly with use. The good news is that the words can easily be replaced with adhesive printer labels. But it would be nice (especially for the price of this game) if they were just made better and if you didn't have to spend a painful laborious hour to separate them in the first place. Now that the words are all apart, I think we will play this game quite often and I look forward to playing with a larger group as well. Edit to add that we have since played the game with a larger group, including my 13 year old nephew and would like to add that while the structure of the game play is similar to cards against humanity, my sister pointed out that this game is better because it is suitable for younger players as well. There are a few prompts that might be iffy, but you can always skip or exclude them easily and without reducing your game quality.

Got this today and we’ve been playing it most of the day. It’s one of those games where you’re laughing so hard you can barely get through a round. The concept is simple but it hits different than the usual card games we always default to. Without giving too much away, you’re basically using word magnets to put together the funniest responses you can, and the results are ridiculous. The creativity that comes out of everyone trying to work with random words is what makes it. It’s a great family game and honestly just as fun with adults. If you’re tired of the same rotation of party games and want something that’s actually fresh and funny, grab this one. We’re already planning to break it out next time we have people over.

The game itself is hilarious! Fun, creative, suited for all ages upwards 16yrs I'd say. the only reason I was debating whether or not to buy it was that it's really expensive considering there's not a lot of materials so it can't be that expensive to produce. but maybe it's a really small group of people who produce it themselves which would make it a good reason to support them.

This is a hilarious family game. It can make us laugh and be entertained for quite awhile. You never have same results. Fun and easy setup and play.

It's a fun, think out of the box kind of game that is group friend, the topics are hilarious and witty. The game itself is fantastic quality and has the best storage bag for all of the magnets. I am really happy that I purchased this game for my ladies weekend away, we laughed so hard over what we came up with. Ransom Notes came with a cute card from the creators, which to me, made it extra perfect!

This game is hilarious and I love it. If you are planning on playing with kids I would go through ahead of time and take some of the cards or words out. I have a little collection of removed topics that I don’t want used with my boys..or anyone, honestly. But the vast majority is fine and a huge hit

This is an awesome party game. Every game feels fresh because the experience depends so much on the people you’re playing with. There are more than enough cards to keep things exciting and unpredictable every time. Whenever I play it with someone, they end up buying it themselves so 100% recommend!

We've played with anywhere from 4 to 7 people, and it's been engaging at all group sizes. The more players, the more variety in responses. Easy to Understand: No complicated rules to learn or teach. Set up is quick, explanations take minutes, and you're playing almost immediately. Perfect for when you just want to jump into something fun without lengthy instructions. Quality: The magnets are decent quality and the board works well. Everything feels sturdy enough to withstand regular family use, including enthusiastic kids handling the pieces. The Laughter Factor: Watching my kids craft absurd sentences within the constraints of the available words was genuinely entertaining. There's something about the limitation that brings out creativity and humor in unexpected ways. Overall: A genuinely fun party game that delivered family entertainment and lots of laughs. If you want something lighthearted that gets everyone involved and giggling, this is an excellent choice. My kids keep asking to play it again, which is the best recommendation I can give.

This is a fun game, takes a bit to get used to it but it's fun.
