Most of the cables I've seen on amazon DO NOT convert the signal in both directions. Nor do they always point out that fact. Very confusing. This one does however, just plug it in. No setup necessary. It needs power but you can just plug it into an open USB port. Or use a cell phone ac adapter. It gets very slightly warm. But it doesn't seem anything to worry about. I usually leave it on for 8 hours a day and it works fine. I use it in 1920x1080 resolution and the picture quality is great. Put the adapter together, connected to the HDMI port on the TV, plugged it in, got the message on my TV to "change resolution settings". So I went into my computer Settings and tried, one-by-one, the resolution settings for my desktop. My computer detected the adapter but I kept getting the error message to change the resolution, no matter what I did in my settings. Yes, I tried projecting only on the connected device; yes, I tried duplicating. It isn't working. I'm pretty frustrated. Will consult someone who knows better than I do, but this has not been the "easy" process that the seller boasts. This is minor, but there are definitely multiple typos on the packaging, too, which usually makes me wary that it's bad product. Maybe it's a bad product, maybe I got a bad egg, maybe I AM the bad egg. Not sure yet.
