Gave this to my husband as an anniversary gift. Great quality, the box in itself is stunning. The compass seems to be accurate. Heavy and great quality.

This is a nice little display piece, a reproduction antique brass compass and sundial in a wooden box with an ornate thumb lock closure. It arrived very well packaged. It's a display item, the compass sort of works and the sundial will display a time when pointed north in bright sunlight, but it's not accurate. The dimensions are off on the sundial and the Roman numerals displayed are out of order. It's something that would go well on a desk or shelf for display. The wooden box is really nice and my husband (who collects compasses) admired the box more than the compass.

I didn't have a practical need for this pur se but I loved the way it Looked so that's why I ordered itSo happy with it in person! My picture's definitely don't do it Justice but this thing is literally a work of art! The craftsmanship is amazing far exceeded my expectations. Even the Box is much more sturdy and heavy and lovely then I thought it would be based on the pictures. Very thick wood lined with an almost velvet like cloth inside. It has an engraved metal plate on the outside and honestly this thing just looks like it was a handmaid gift made especially for someone.I don't know much about sundials but the compass does seem very accurate and what from what I know of how sun dials work the time seems to be accurate as well so this isn't just for looks it is a functioning item. This would make a beautiful display piece or a lovely gift for someone!I'm extremely satisfied with this item and would definitely order it again it has an almost steampunk aesthetic to it and I just love how it looks in general

I've gotten a couple of different ones to use and display in my house, they are very beautiful, simple to use and will be an Heirloom for my family for certain. I am overjoyed at the thought and care that was put into these pieces. Great job from Sailors art!!

The craftsmanship, presentation, and the enclosure on this sundial are all excellent. Very well made with quite a bit of attention to detail. It is high quality and sturdy, too. Looks absolutely beautiful sitting on the shelf as a display piece (though it does actually work as a real sundial too). Would make a great gift for anyone who likes nautical decor, or would be a great item to have at a beach or lake house.

This is a beautiful display piece. Starting with the box, it is well made and would make a great gift by itself. The sundial is well made and functions smoothly, the threads and hinges are finely manufactured. This would make a great gift or that perfect display piece to visually enjoy. I would recommend this.

The media could not be loaded.  From the box to the instrument, this is a nice period piece. Even the brass enclosed levels took authentic. If I have one complaint it's that the brake for the compass dial is not very good - it's slipped/unlocked on it's own several times. I tightened the brake screw a little to fix this.It has what I'd call a presentation or display box. If you were going to use this as a cosplay prop, you'll need to make a leather case/pouch for it.The details are deeply etched - text, numbers, indicators - and all are darkened for contrast. There's two small holes on the inside bottom of the cast - two of the legs rest in these to prevent movement. The case alone is probably a $25 item - the craftsmanship is excellent.

Super nice quality, well-made and very solid Sundial, level, compass. Definitely a collector‘s item, comes in a beautiful wooden gift box. Makes a great gift idea, good price, highly recommend.
