Followup: Still love this product
Using this product for over a year now. As an endurance athlete (long course triathlon, marathons and long course cycling) I have been a long time Gu user and still think they make an excellent product (especially the peanut butter which has 1 gram of protein unlike the others), but found myself getting burned out on the texture/taste. A fellow cyclist introduced my to Huma and I found it a welcome change. The PLUS (added electrolytes) "sealed the deal" for me. One of my problems on marathon and half marathon courses was the "unknown" as to fluids with electrolytes at the rest stops (ranging from Gatorade, Powerade, Nuun all mixed to different strengths). After studying the electrolyte contents of Huma PLUS and trial runs on the treadmill I found I could do fine with water alone and one Huma PLUS every 45-50 minutes or so. This dramatically simplified my nutrition/hydration equation and played a significant role in staying "balanced" on my first sub 4 hour marathon this past December. The packets are slightly larger than Gu's due to increased fluid content (texture similar to thin applesauce) which eases consumption and makes chasing immediately with water NOT necessary. The PLUS does have a slightly saltier taste, but not unpleasant/unbearable. I have also tried the Blueberry & Banana which tastes similar. As an added bonus the contents are "cleaner" than most on the market and designed by one of our military veterans. A great product that comes with my highest recommendation. UPDATE: I'm not a "sponsored athlete" (although I would happily be one for Humma...hint hint, haha!) After multiple orders this remains my "go to" fuel for any competitive or weight/space constrained athletic activity (triathlon, running, cycling, hiking) and the orders are promptly and correctly filled every time. Only suggestion I can come up with is to consider expanding your line to include "chewable" fuel like some of the other companies (ie chews/gummies, bars) Thanks guys!

Works great, love the electrolytes
Works great, love the electrolytes but the original huma tastes slightly better. This is a little salty, which I guess is the addition of the electrolytes but with the fruit base it's a little weird. A chocolate or mocha base might work better with the salt. My husband loves both types though and prefers the Huma+ bc of the electrolyte addition. The original huma is absolutely delicious and my favorite gu type product for running. Not sure if it's mental or real but I can tell the difference when I have a Huma or Huma+ before a run. Definitely gives you that extra boost to keep going.

One of the best gels
I have used Huma gels before and decided to return to them after I needed ro up my sodium intake per hour. The gel I was using didn’t have enough. Huma is good for my stomach and easy to take while on a run. Highly recommend this product not just for the sodium but for the other ingredients in the Huma + Chia Energy Gel Plus — calcium, potassium and magnesium. Love the Berries & Pomegranate flavor.

An acquired taste
In my opinion, energy gels (of all kinds) are nasty and they take some time to get used to. First time I tried one of these, I gagged a bit. But after some time, I’ve gotten used to them and they no longer make me gag. I really like these one’s compared to other brands because I find them easy to digest and the gel texture is almost like a purée. Also, I definitely get an energy boost after taking at least half a gel. I would recommend putting them in the freezer the night before a run; they won’t freeze, but I find that the cold temperature makes it easier to wash down. Also, take with water.

I highly recommend HUMA Energy Gel
This gel is all natural and tastes great (I prefer the flavors that don't have additional caffeine). I use it for a slightly different purpose. I typically run early in the morning on an empty stomach. On weekends, if I don't get up early enough or if I had only a small meal the night before, I eat one of these gel packs 15-30 minutes before running. I can definitely notice the boost in energy if I eat a gel pack relative to running on a completely empty stomach. The reason that I don't eat before running is that I often get cramps if I eat and then run. The gels give me energy and no cramps. My son, who runs distance events in track in high school, also started to use these gel packs. He takes them only if there's a long break between events or an unforeseen delay (otherwise, he eats a meal before the meet). He also noticed a boost in energy. So, now I have to buy more gel packs...

Great Hockey Fuel!
As a hockey player, I down one about 45 minutes before gametime or practice. I take them on the bench with me and hit one between each period. Great for keeping my electrolytes up which gives me more jump and keeps my mind sharp all game long. Also helps post-game recovery. They cause me no stomach distress, which is key. They taste decent but that's not why I use them. Love that they are organic cuz we are at home.
