Original Stainless Steel Double Wall Electric Water Kettle 1.8 Quart with Auto Shut-Off & Boil-Dry Protection, Orange SWK-1701DO/HB-3227B

I purchased this in purple in February 2024. Delivery was quick. It has held up beautifully for 2 years since and counting. The whole top of the unit opens at the lid so it's extremely easy to keep clean inside. No plastic ever touches the water. There is a stainless steel lining instead which is a great healthy choice. It's reliable, has decent boil time. It gets heavily used and has been used at least twice a day every day for the past two years. Great purchase!!!

I’ve had the kettle for more than 3 years and going strong lol! I had another Secura kettle prior to this and sold it when I moved. So it’s safe to say kettles from this brand have been with me for more than 6 years and I drink hot beverage every day. Just imagine how stable they are. The reason I chose the kettle was for its stainless steel interior and the durability. Water comes out fast and hot as expected. Good value for the price. Portable and cute looking. One thing to keep in mind is to pour the water slowly so it doesn’t spill over to the side. When I’m in a rush and need to get all water out fast, I open the lid so the water can come out (hot vapor alert). Other than that nothing out of surprise. I hope this kettle continues to work for many years to come.

Excellent electric kettle with stainless steel interior. No smells or odd tastes. Hears up quickly and has an automatic shut off when it reaches boiling. I’ve been using it almost daily for several months and have had zero issues. The burnt orange is a fun pop of color in the kitchen. 10/10 would recommend.

Works great - heats quickly

This is a review for Secura SWK-1701DB 1.8 Quart Stainless Steel Double Wall Electric Water Kettle. This is probably the best Electric Kettle that we've owned. This review is being provided after 6 months of every day usage (about 2-3 times per day) of this kettle. We live in a sea-level area (from the perspective of water boiling temperature) and have hard water. So yes, there is mineral build-up on the bottom of the kettle - but this is to be expected. Provided instructions give directions on how to remove this, but the deposits (after 6 months of use) are not to the level that we've had to descale it yet. PROS: - One of the most important positives is that we've had ZERO rust anywhere on the surface (internal or external). I've seen pictures provided by other reviewers of the rust - we have not (yet) experienced any of it. - No direct contact of water or steam with plastic. Internals and how they are finished and connect with external plastic shell are all stainless steel. No plastic or rubber switches or seals of any kind in contact with water/steam. - So far, plastic toggle on the handle provides for smooth and convenient operation/opening of the top lid and fairly sufficient enough opening to fill it with water. - Base sits flat on the surface of the counter and does not wiggle. Kettle fits well on the base and does not wiggle. If base/kettle is bumped a little, it will not easily topple over. - Thermally it is well made and in most of the places, even when water is at full boil, you will not burn your hands by touching the outside. Exception to this is the top lid (which makes sense) and inside of the handle that is closest to the top. So you just have to hold the handle a bit lower than the top bend (it is hot, but not to the point of instant burn). - Handle is one solid piece. Overall diameter of the handle is fairly thick, but comfortable fit for an average hand (male or female). For an individual with small hand, the handle might feel a bit thick. - Balances well when full of water while pouring. Spout is well made - pouring is controlled and water does not spill when pouring. - Finish/Colors are bright and well made (it's plastic and is not painted - so this will not fade). Easy to wipe and does not leave fingerprints (maybe this is a bit different on darker colors). - Water retains temperature for significant amount of time (of course depends on your temperature preference). But after 30 minutes of full boil, water is still significantly warm. - Automatic shut-off switch works well - does not seem it will break off easily and shuts-off well every single time (again, 6 months daily usage) CONS: - Very loud when gets close to full boil - Lot's of steam coming from the spout during boiling. You should pay attention where this kettle is placed during operation. It should not be placed under counters (of any material) or under hanging plants. Basically you want lot's of air around and on top for steam to dissipate. Definitely ensure children do not have access to this appliance. - No window to see water level. This is fine, since when such a feature is present, it usually means there is plastic inside - No temperature control: it's either on or off.

Update: I love this thing so much that I wanted to provide an update. I use this at least twice a day, and more if I want boiling water for any cooking use at all. If I want to make pasta, boil potatoes, whatever, I put my kettle on and it is so much faster than waiting for a pot to boil, but I also put a little water in the pan on the stove and get it boiling, too, so that when I pour in my kettle's worth of hot water, I'm well ahead of the process. I've also had no problem with "rusting" or staining at all, my cord isn't heating up, and my only regret with this kettle is that I didn't get one sooner. Also, re the raisin color: it's still ugly, but I have found amusement in coming up with descriptions of the color, and the laughing offsets the ugly factor. There's always a silver lining. So, I got the Dark Purple because I was being cheap. It's my own choice, and I did not rate the color. This isn't dark purple. it's "raisin", and that means a weird browny/purple thing, and not my fav. But it was $10 less, and it's not horrid, and I didn't love the other "bright" colors either, and "midnight black" was as much of a risk as "dark purple". I use this as a preface to my review because, if you care about the color that much and raisin isn't your favorite shade, try another color. But that said... OMG! I already love this thing! it's easy to fill, it is SOOOOOOOO much faster than stovetop kettle (I had Le Creuset Zen model), and the stainless is so easy. I did a couple of test runs, and it is 2.5 minutes faster than stovetop for 2 cups of water (stovetop set at high). I also made soft-boiled eggs with the extra water. I put my room temp eggs in a pan, poured the boiling water over, and let sit for 8 minutes, no additional heat, and I got soft-boiled just the way I like them. I know 2.5 minutes savings' per day isn't going to save the world, but in a month,that's 75 minutes energy savings, and in a year, that's 900 minutes energy savings. Plus, I don't have to heat extra water for a soft-boiled egg. I'd highly recommend this kettle. I just have found no negatives (other than the not awesome raisin color, but that was my own choice, and some people may actually like the color). Also, I keep reading about rusting... stainless steel is called stainless because it's the least corrosive of all the metals, and with cookware and utensils it's great because it just doesn't normally rust. The inside of this kettle is 18/10 (that's the ratio of chromium to nickel and it's better than 18/8. Water can leave stains if there's a high rust content in your area. Also, hard water leaves its own kind of gunk. White vinegar rinse will help, and I always leave the top up and I don't leave water standing in mine because I hate the idea of stale water. So hope that helps anyone concerned about rust.

UPDATE: Bummed I missed the return window by one day - the kettle is now relegated to "doesn't work as it should" - it rarely shuts off by itself after only a couple of weeks, and just keeps boiling endlessly until you manually switch if of or remove it from the base. Plus, it now randomly emits a high-pitched squealing when first turned on, with no rhyme or reason. A definitely waste of money and I will be purchasing a replacement brand/model stat! My search for a reliable and durable kettle continues. I had high hopes for this model, with specific British Strix Control to address issues I've repeatedly had with other models failing quickly with auto-shut off and the kettle-to-base connection failing. This kettle has been in use for less than a week and already the auto shut off is hit and miss. Often boiling on end and requires manual shut off. Color me not impressed and so far its not living up to the reported exceptional lifespan touted.

I bought this in 2017 its almost 10 years old, it's still going strong as the day I purchased it. It has been used daily and still boils in under a minute.

Compré esta hervidora de agua ya que las anteriores que he tenido al ser de cristal se han roto por accidente. Decidí comprar esta jarra por su diseño y color que son muy bonitos y al no ser de cristal la jarra es más resistente. El interior es de acero inoxidable y el agua nunca toca la parte de plástico , además no esta caliente al tacto y evita quemaduras. Me ha gustado que calienta muy rápido y tiene una capacidad de casi 2 lts. La recomiendo ampliamente.

This stainless steel kettle is large but light and remains cool enough to touch once boiled. It is easy to fill, has a simple on-off switch and comes to a boil fairly quickly. So far there has been no staining of the interior and accompanying cleaning instructions should help with that. The purple colour is very subtle which works for my decor. This is not the quietest kettle and does not offer temperature options for different beverages. Neither are problems for me. I hope this kettle stands the test of time. My previous kettle had more options but didn't last more than a year. Customer service was exceptional. The first kettle I received had a minor scratch which I was unhappy with. The problem was quickly acknowledged by email communication with great courtesy and after being presented with a couple of options I chose a replacement which was sent to me within a couple of days. I was also given the assurance of prompt service in the case of any future concerns. I would highly recommend both the Secura stainless kettle and the Sellers (Lafraise CA)

Ya tengo usándola todos los días, tres o cuatro veces al día y funciona realmente bien. En cuestión de 3 min el agua está hirviendo. Este es el color real del color púrpura, yo la pedí en ese tono solo por el precio. Fuera del color que no es mi favorito y por ahorrarme unos cientos de pesos, recomiendo la tetera!

Love this kettle! Not just because it's my favourite colour but that it is so easy to clean calcium & limescale out of it. We are on a well & this well does have a fairly high level of minerals & calcium. Great for drinking but terrible for kettles! The wide opening is a big plus even my husband's hand can get in there & wipe out the interior. It's fast to boil & I love the fact that the interior is self contained so that if I choose to use a chemical descaler product there is no chance of the chemical leaking into an area & wrecking the kettle.... yes that has happened to me. This kettle is very loud compared to my previous 1500watt kettles but I contacted the company to see if mine was defective in some way. Had a response very quickly & apparently it is because of this particular design, my kettle tested in the normal range of decibels. It's not super loud just louder than we were used too. A very minor issue considering how great this kettle is in everything else. I only gave this kettle 4☆ because of a safety issue I have noticed. Now that we are aware of it we are careful. Beware of burning potential. When the kettle boils steam escapes up through the button on the handle & all up through the lid. I've been steam burned before, it is the nastiest type of burn you can get. It happens very fast & it continues burning through your skin layers longer than you might think. Please be careful when it boils! Once it is turned off the steam dissipates quickly.
