Hiboy S2 MAX Adult Electric Scooter, 500W Motor, 40.4 Miles Long Range | 19 Mph Top Speed, 10" Pneumatic Tire, Foldable Commuter E-Scooter with Dual Braking System

[UPDATE: May -April 2024 It has almost been a year since I have been with Hiboy and I have got to say that the scooter has definitely served as a staple within my life. I don’t have a car so this is my main means of transportation. I want to mention that despite pieces becoming damaged or questionable faulty issues within a particular piece, Hiboy has not let me down as far as replacements. Of course, with video/photo evidence, they want to see what the issue is. Upon understanding of issue, they have sent me any and all pieces needed to remedy the situation. A big help has been them sending me inner tubes for my flats and even a tire once the tread had wore down. I’ve also received a stem, some side covers, a fender, etc. anything the scooter may lack is covered by the company in responsiveness and willingness to assist in the remedy of said problems. I’m about 200lbs and bags usually weigh between 10-30 lbs. scooter still gets me up hills and zips me across my areas streets. Definitely will move faster the lighter you are so lose some weight buddy. Also , I have never had an issue with the head lights. That’s pretty cool. (April 9, 2024) ] May 26 , 2023- q we Upon opening the box for this product, I was met with a fairly simple set up. Everything comes pretty much put together, and the handlebar is the only part that needs to be attached (6 screws completed with Allen key that is provided). The wiring that must be manually connected in the neck was a bit sketchy as I had to “find” a way to get it all to fit while securing the neck closed. Didn’t want to squeeze or rupture anything. GOOD: The scooters riding capability is great. It catches speed pretty quickly and has zero-start capabilities. Just for comparison purposes, I’m about 183 lbs, and 5’8.5 ft. The scooter has me feeling as if I weigh less the way it zips me around. I’ve also went small grocery shopping and also carry a backpack with items often and it has no problem handling the extra load. Mind you, hill performance will be slightly affected depending on weight. It climbs hills at a solid speed , about 11-14 mph and even greater depending on hill size. I’ve got some pretty steep hills in my area just for reference. The scooter is pretty solid in frame. It has a wide platform for great standing stability and the rubber grip is very helpful. The motor compartment sits pretty low so watch for speed bumps. I walked over a few speed bumps first to get a reference for which speed bumps to go over and which to stop for. It’s pretty heavy to carry for long distances. I ride to my location and fold it up and place it on a bus or train or under shopping carts in stores. I do it outside so no one says anything. I’ve caught speeds of about 25 mph going downhill and felt pretty stable and safe. You do fee bumps and cracks though so be weary. Hold bars lightly yet firmly. All in all, it’s a great All-around scooter, whether you’re commuting or just out for a joyride. NOT SO GOOD: Unfortunately I have to return mine. A day after receiving my scooter, I noticed my scooter starting to stall and make aggressive jerking and grinding sounds. This would happen when going from zero to start, when slowing down via letting go of throttle and then pressing throttle again to speed up, breaking, and then throttling after breaking. It has glitched while trying to cross roads and that had worried me a bit. Mind you, I’ve never dropped my scooter or pushed it past any limit imposed. I rode to a park one day and when I went to leave my scooters MPH section said I was going 23 mph and I was simply walking the scooter. It started glitching more before giving me the E7 error code. It’s only been under 2 weeks and I’m receiving error codes. Unfortunately I can’t ride it anymore and am sending it back. Customer service is so/so. They asked for photos to see if it was a problem I could fix myself. It’s a motor issue which I cannot do myself so they’ve asked if I wanted a replacement. No word back from them yet but I am hoping that they follow through. ( THEY FOLLOWED THROUGH. SENT A NEW SCOOTER TO ME ONCE I SENT THE FAULTY ONE BACK TO THEM) I hope that my incident was a rare one and isolated. Would not want other riders’ scooters giving out in front of passing cars or on busy road ways. That poses a definite danger. Will update later on results👍🏽 (UPDATE - they sent me a new scooter to replace the one with the E7 issue. Have been riding that one ever since. Take care of your scooter and it will take care of you )

I purchased the Hiboy S2 Max through Amazon and have been really happy with it. The scooter feels solid and well built without being too heavy to carry when needed. The weight is manageable, but it still feels sturdy and stable while riding. The speed is perfect for commuting around town. It has enough power to feel quick and efficient without feeling unsafe. The range has also been great for my daily use. I can run errands and get where I need to go without worrying about the battery dying unexpectedly. I also really like the look of the scooter. It has a clean, sleek design that feels modern and high quality. It definitely looks more premium than many other scooters in this price range. Customer support was responsive and helpful when I had a question. They communicated clearly and worked with me to resolve my issue, which I really appreciated. Overall, the S2 Max has been reliable and practical for my transportation needs. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable electric scooter for everyday use.

Update. Hiboy reached out to me to provide a revised design scooter to address the issue I had changing the inner tube on the rear wheel. The below comments refer to the previous model without the split hub design. I was really impressed, I did not reach out to Hiboy or expect/ask them to do anything. They clearly monitor these reviews and we proactive. Very impressive. I have also purchased a solid wheel scooter for my son. Revising this review to give them their well earned credit for going above and beyond. I have had this scooter for about a year. Its fast, smooth, and has great range. I would have rated it 5 stars, BUT, I got a flat on the rear tire. The motor is in the rear wheel, so to take it off, you have to strip/disconnect 4-5 wires. Once I had the wheel off, removing the tire was not possible without damaging the wheel. I have a pretty good selection of tools at home, but I didn't see a way to do it effectively. I brought it to a bike shop and they refused to do it. I ended up having to find a scooter store (gas scooters) and they did it, but it took an hour and made it clear they didn't want to do it again. I assume their must be an electric scooter repair place somewhere, but I couldn't find one near me in Rhode Island. Unless you are really handy, or a mechanic, its unlikely you will be able to perform this repair yourself. Make sure you know there is a location to have it serviced that is convenient if you are not super confident you can fix it yourself. I noticed that most of the new models have solid tires and I assume its because of this. Its back up and running now, but I am keeping my fingers crossed I don't get another flat. Outside of the flat tire issue its a great scooter. I use it to run errands around town and to go to a pool club about a mile away instead of taking my car. I really enjoy it and its very stable. I am a grown up, but I still longboard and bike ride all the time. Trust me 19 MPH is faster than you think it is. I would recommend a helmet, especially if you are not regularly doing activities that require good balance.

This scooter is the best thing to have ever happened to me. no exaggeration. I live in nyc where transportation is kinda reliable but the traffic makes everything hard. This scooter has allowed me to an hour of my time each way to my work. My work is 4 miles away from my house and has this steep hill, the scooter takes it with ease. And when I get home, my scooter is at least at 81% on warm days, if it’s on the colder side it’s below 75% battery. It’s enough to go back to work. I love love love it. I’ve had it for over a year now, and I would say the biggest con might be a flat tire(which I’ve had but nyc has a lot of crap on the ground so it might’ve been that) but even if, it’s very easy to fix. I’ve been so many places with scooter. I’ve taken it to the city city, to ct, to pa. I’ve borrowed the scooter to people and they always say the range is awesome. It folds, it does great on 30 degree weather, even slight rain. I’ve almost done it all on it, and it’s just as reliable as the first day. Another con might be the weigh distribution when it comes to lifting it but it’s not unbearable.

EDIT: ONE YEAR IN —> I’ve put well over 2000 miles on this scoot. It has handled curb hopping, dusty off-road, potholes and light rain. I switched to solid tires and only had to remove the rear motor twice (there are instructions videos and it gets easier each time). I’ve learned that you can disassemble the speed controls to get more power too, so I will be doing that soon. I’ve only had two falls, both due to a failure to lock and secure the folding handlebars after starting the ride. One I take full responsibility for, the other happened 12 miles into a ride and I suspect the bumpy road caused the mechanism to come lose. Considering ride time on this, I think it was a freak thing rather than a design flaw. I’ve also since moved to an ebike for daily commuting during the summer. It is faster but not as versatile as the scooter which can easily get on public transportation or an Uber when it’s too wet or cold. Upgrades: second rail for scooter bag and rear view mirror, reflective tape for safety, solid rubber tires, adhesive light strip for visibility. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I couldn’t stand the daily commute anymore. Now I get to see so much more of the city and realistically it only adds about 20 minutes to my commute (17 mile drove 14 mile scoot). When I first started, I treated it like driving. Now I treat it like cruising. 19mph is a good speed. Id love another five mph. It for beginners it’s a fair speed. With my gear and weight this thing is carrying over 225. On a single charge with a flat to downhill with occasional small slopes, high gear, top speed I will get an easy 16 miles, more if I push-assist on hills. The reverse commute with flat to uphill and occasional small down slopes i will get 14 miles, more if I peddle. The more you break the more your rear wheel regenerates meaning the less you stop the quicker you will drain the battery. Even with the below cons, I still love this scooter for the power and price point. Cons: -no key ignition or way to securely lock the scooter. THIS IS A HUGE DOWNSIDE if you are exploring or stopping off places. You can pair the scooter with your Bluetooth as a way of security but I have no trust for that. I implanted an AirTag inside the battery box for safety, and will be exploring fabricating something later on as well. -Tubes that come with the scoot are awful and the valve on one burst within 20 miles. -tire changes WILL BE A PAIN if you do not have an impact driver, a vice and large tire shims at a minimum. Be prepared to scrape the rims if you are new to tire change. Be prepared to disassemble the rear wiring, reapply shrink wrap to the connections and reseal the port. - bottoming out is possible but avoidable. Avoiding it will save the screws in the underside of your scoot that will need to be removed when you change the rear tire. - fold and lock handle bars make me nervous. Real nervous. But no problem yet. - the front break is effective and I’ve had no concern going over my handlebars. However, they aren’t the most responsive at top speed and you should practice dismount breaking when (not if) cara pop out on you. -the rear brake light could be larger and brighter. Pros: - This scooter was easy to assemble out of the box and is instantly FUN. - Even without suspension, it can handle rough off-road (not mud), you just need a good grip and preparation. - Bright front light - CRUISE CONTROL - Weight-bearing (225+) - wide platform that I can stand comfortably with my large feet side by side with minimal overhang. - I only get passed by electric bikes when they peddle assist - if you push-assist you can up your speed to 21mph - CRUIIIISSSSEEEE CONTROL - display is pretty easy to use - 3 speeds. I don’t use the lower gears but lighter weight riders may have better use of them. I find that even at reduced speed I do not travel as far as I do on top gear. - the little bell is more useful than you’d expect. - the platform has a lil that was perfect for attaching led strip lighting. - smooth ride even without suspension. I have a pneumatic in the front and solid in the rear. I ride several miles off-road everyday and have no issues aside from steering wobble which is expected with all non-stabilized scooters and you won’t get that at this price point.

I’ll start by saying that the scooter is better to handle than other brands and larger in size in a good way. And that’s really the best compliment I can give it. A few months after riding it one day the wheel blew up on me and the scooter shut down and stopped to halt with extreme braking power it almost made me fall on my face. Lucky for me I was on a sidewalk and didn’t suffer any injuries. I had to buy for a body part replacement and labor cost for someone to fix it and waited on it for 2 weeks due to having to wait for the company to ship us part. Had to borrow a friend’s Ninebot and let me tell you, while it ain’t my first choice it was a lot more reliable than this one. This is the rear wheel by the way, and the motor is basically in it so you have top buy a new motor. It costs over $100 excluding labor cost if memory serves (all in all paid about $200). Only a few months in with the replacement part and it felt bumpy while driving so I got an air pump and filled both wheels with air, and to my surprise the rear wheel has a hole in it and I can hear the air blowing clearly. Again, I’m supposed to buy another part and take it to the store and wait a few weeks for this issue to be resolved. I bought this scooter in Q4 2022 for crying out loud, this poor performance is completely unacceptable. I paid more on this scooter than many of the cheaper ones because I assumed I was paying for a quality product, but the joke was on me. If you’re willing to take the gamble, by all means go ahead, but if you live in a place where there isn’t a licensed scooter shop near you (it’s an hour ride to the nearest one for me), I suggest you reconsider. I’ll say this about the Ninebot, the wheels weren’t tires and it had an emergency brake, whereas this one has neither.

The thing is awesome, we've had it a year and itss been great. It's a pain in the ass to air up tires though and God forbid you get a flat lol Go to YouTube to check how to fix that, took me about 20mins fighting with stuff, but got it all done. It claims 40 miles, but not sure how they came up with that one, no way the battery last long enough to do that. But it gets upto 19mph no problem and holds it, stops well also.

This is an updated review of a purchase I made back in December. I will leave the old review up for the time being, however, this is my experience as a whole with HiBoy. I ran into a few severe issues with my scooter and at the end of the day it just wouldn't work anymore. I was able to contact customer service and they were extremely responsive and helpful. Kim was the service person that took charge of my issue and case. Kim not only assisted me with diagnosing the issue. But she guided me along the return process by providing me a return label and expediting me a brand new scooter, delivered to my front door! Not only did she lead me through the process and have a new scooter sent to my home, but kept In touch with me through email throughout the whole process ensuring that delivery was prompt and I was happy with her service as well as the new product. Furthermore, she went ahead and sent me a rear tire, including motor for any issues that could possibly occur in the future. No one expects issues to happen with a brand new products however, with customer service from HiBoy and the expertise of Kim caring about her products I would fully recommend purchasing from HiBoy and I will eventually purchase my third scooter from them. It's pretty, it works... Temporarily. I ordered my S2 Max the first week of December. It arrived quickly and with no damage, I ride it quite often. I never ride it off-road, I don't go through potholes and I read a responsibly as I'm a 43 year old adult. Less than 90 days after receiving my first scooter in the mail, the entire frame broken half as you can see from the pictures above. Luckily, customer service was quite a gem and after emailing them and sending them pictures they quickly sent me an entire another unit as soon as I shipped this one back to them. Now, approximately 45 days later my back tire is blown out and good luck changing it. I say good luck changing it because do your research, look at the YouTube videos and read up on how difficult it is to change this tire. I'm not about to ship this one back for a return and I doubt they would give me money back after a quick 5 months. This is one of the worst ways to spend $1,000 I could have ever imagined. Do yourself a favor and go a different route than HiBoy. At the very least common do your own research. Don't end up where I am.

Depuis 1 mois que je l'utilise, et aucun problème à signaler ! Je pèse 200lbs et en Speed mode 30km/h je peux faire 35km environ et en Drive mode à 25km/h environ 45km. Le KM qui indique est sûrement pour le mode ECO qui roule 20km/h pour une personne qui pèse 100lbs. Mais sinon très satisfait. Leur software est bien fait pour optimiser le KM de la batterie, elle charge en 6h de temps quand elle est à 0%. Le mode parking est cool qui empêche la trottinette d'avancer ou de reculer. Par contre je recommande de checker souvent la pression des pneus, je ne l'avais pas regarder depuis son déballage depuis 1 mois et ils étaient rendu à 8psi !! J'ai regarder sur les pneu et il faut qu'il soit à 44psi ! Très important pour ne pas avoir de flat. Lors du storage pour l'hiver, dans le livret ils disent de le garder au chaud (pas dans un cabanon au froid) et que la batterie soit à 50% de sa charge (pas 0%, pas 100%, vraiment dans les 30-50%), cela va faire en sorte que la batterie va durer très longtemps ! Je vais essayer cela et updater mon review dans 1 an pour voir l'état de la batterie.

Scooter stopped charging after less than 6 months of purchase. I contacted customer support and they don’t have a battery replacement and I am constantly asked to wait and nothing is happening. Customer chat support is non-responsive. Very bad after sales service.
