Does what it says
These work great in the range indicated. Outside that range, they are understandably, nearly worthless. I shocked a water supply well with chlorine. I went around and flushed every discharge point until I detected the odor of chlorine, and then verified there was sufficient chlorine concentration with these test strips. In some cases the detection area just turned black. That would be, too much chlorine for the test strips, but OK to kill any bacteria. The next day, I flushed the whole system, until the chlorine level was down to the limits of detection with these test strips. They give you plenty of strips, with groups sealed in air-tight foil packages. It took more flushing than I would of expected, to get the chlorine in the water, from the hot water heater, down to acceptable levels. Also worked well to verify chlorine treatment of the refrigerator water dispenser, and ice maker. Threw out several buckets of ice, before the level returned to normal. Glad I had these to test. I am using the leftover strips to test my spa water.

Works exactly within the range listed on the bottle only
I volunteer to keep a diluted bleach solution for decontaminating boats at a nearby boat landing for a non-profit association to keep certain invasive species out of the lake. An issue arose in how long can the diluted solution stay above 500 ppm (parts per million) in the real world. When Amazon delivered the testing bottles today, I tested the two day old bottle of bleach solution at the boat landing and went through the procedures as in the past to create a new batch. Following directions on the bottle, I got a brown test result for the two day old bottle and the new solution, and repeated it with the strips from the second bottle. I got nothing blue or black at all. At home I wanted to exclude the possibility that the strips only work under 750 ppm. So I carefully prepared a test solution recommended by two different bleach solution calculators online to be exactly 500 ppm (nine drops of 7.5% bleach per one cup of distilled water). The test strip was identical to the shade of blue in the bottle for 500 ppm. I will say I got the closest match by waving off the water to speed the drying during the 15 second waiting period. I can personally verify that a brown test result is because there is too much bleach in your water.

do not work
As many reviews have mentioned, these strips do not detect chlorine. Tested my pool water and they stayed white, went to my local YMCA to test there water with these strips and they never changed colors. Dont waste your monye.

Not showing correct colors
Colors do not line up. I was using these to measure bleach solution. I had some yellow chlorine strips that were difficult to read because several of the colors were lighter than the color of the paper, so I chose these, which are white. I got suspicious when my solutions kept testing way off from where they should have been, so I tested a solution I happened to have that was lab tested 500ppm. The color it gave was darker than the 750 on the bottle. So while I like the idea of these, they were not accurate for me.

I should have returned them
I bought these to test the chlorine content in our tap water against what the city reported since they were doing a citywide flush. Our bathroom smelled like an indoor pool every time we turned on the faucet and especially the bathtub yet these useless strips always indicated no detectable chlorine. Sure, they were easy to use and it came with plenty of strips but they were apparently defective and ultimately useless. I would NOT suggest anyone buy these or if you do be sure to return them if they don’t work.
