ProlimatechSamuel 17 CPU Cooler

Put this on a F2A85-M Pro to keep the temps on a A10 5800K cpu under control. I was using the stock cooler since the beginning of the build. Problem I had was in the Silverstone GD04, space is very limited once fully built and even with upgraded fans, cpu temps would still rise to less than desirable levels. On a few occasions when running full scans with my security software, the stock cooler would allow around 72 *C... After a few minutes here, the system would crash. And those temps were reached in just a few minutes. Now, with this cooler and the Prolimatech Ultra Sleek, Vortex 140mm fan. Running the same tests and identical ambient room temperature the cpu is currently at 54*C - 55*C. Which is great for this build, mostly because that's the most cpu load the computer ever gets, and that's only once a month. Idle temps dropped roughly 5*C - 7*C, and usually holds steady around 35*C. All of my numbers are based off of Asus AI Suite 2.To me, these load temps are still too high, but in this chassis airflow is an issue. I would have much rather gone for one of the extra Corsair liquid cooling options I have lying around my office, but radiator clearance is an issue in the Silverstone.So far I am very pleased with this heatsink and my chosen fan. I do have one caution to mention, the mounting hardware that comes with this is great, but... do be careful when doing the final round of tightening of the screws. If you aren't careful you could very easily bend or crack your board. I was careless the first time I put this thing on(I did so backwards and needed to take it back off) and put a few unsightly bends in my mother board. There is a very fine line when it comes to a secure cpu cooler and too tight with this one.

There aren't a whole lot of low profile coolers that can handle hot CPUs and Samuel 17 is one of them.This is a very high quality heatsink, with 6 heat pipes and copper base, all nickel plated.The unique offset design makes it suitable for many different motherboard layouts. I tried mine with Gigabyte GA-Z87N-WIFI and Asus Z87I-Deluxe, each time finding a perfect position where it clears memory and PCIe slots and providing air flow to the chipset at the same time.The mounting is from the bottom, less than ideal, but unavoidable in this design. Comes with spring loaded screws and a tube of Prolimatech thermal compound (not the high end stuff that Prolimatech sells, but still very decent). The brackets for practically all current sockets are included.I appreciate the fact that it comes without a fan (wish all were like that). I installed mine with Noctua NF-P12 PWM fan which tops out at 1300 RPM.Thusly cooled Intel Core i7-4770 can run Prime95 continuously while the temperatures hover around 75 degrees. Though it might seem as a bit too warm to some, keep in mind that this is a 45mm heatsink with fan spinning at around 1200 RPM, which makes it essentially inaudible from 2-3 ft.An easy mod for this heatsink is to add mini duct between the fan and the mount (if the room in the case allows), for example out of ABS, that can concentrate the airflow further down the fins. The fan mount has threaded holes (3mm thread) making such experiments a cinch.The other observation is that this heatsink is as efficient with the fan blowing down as with the fan blowing up, which can be invaluable if you go for one fan solution in a slim case.All in all, a well-engineered, high quality item.

Using with a 4690S 65w tdp and I’ve swapped out and tried several different fans but using prime95 cpu test I’m seeing temperatures going past what my cpu is rated for (rated at 72C and it gets up to 76-80C) tried redoing the thermal paste a few times to no avail. Also mine mounts at an angle, that is to say the motherboard and the heatsink aren’t parallel (see photo). From the heatpipe side to the other is a slight increase in height. I’ve tried pushing on it towards the bumpers but it won’t level out and I don’t want to force it. Fits very very well and takes in account for standard height ram. I like the way the fan would mount to the top but tightening the screws deforms the corners of the fan mounted on it. Overall good looking and fit but underperforms under max load.

Combined this with a Noctua NF-F12 3000 rpm 90 cfm fan to cool an A10-7850I apu...wasn't nearly as effective as I thought it would be but I still have a bit of tweaking with case airflow and the included overclocking software to do on my system before I can entirely wrote this one off.

This thing is pretty big, but worked out well inside an ITX case. This paired with a 120mm Cougar Vortex fan and placed in a Corsair Obsidian 250D case. The only downside for me was that the finish was a bit rough.

This is my favorite cpu cooler, is small enough to fit in many Mini-ITX cases, is very very... easy to install and you can use 120mm fans. The package includes thermal paste which is also very easy to apply. I'm using one with a Thermaltake Core V1 and a core i5, a Lian-li pc-q27 with a A10-7850K .Good cooling performance and very easy installation.

If you have a limited space in your case like in the Cooler Master Elite 130 and don't like the idea of having water running inside your build (I'm old school) this little guy is the way to go. I paired it with a Noctua NF-P12 1300 and I couldn't be happier, temperatures went from 38-40 C browsing (stock cooler) to 28 C on a i7 4770k (ambient temp 75 F). It's name said it all!

Currently using this with a Noctua NF-F12 120mm PWM fan on my ASRock Z77E-ITX motherboard, all inside a Silverstone SG06 mini-ITX case. Cools my Ivy Bridge i5 decently well (40-45C idle) and a huge improvement over the stock Intel cooler.

In meinem kleinen micro-ATX Gehäuse LC-02 (Low Profile) von MS Tec, kühlt der Kühler in Kombination mit dem 120 mm Scythe Grand Flex 2400 PWM den AMD 7850k APU (Sockel FM2+) auf ca. 56°C bei Alltags-Last (3D Games, bei ca. 1600-2000 RPM), ca. 61° C bei Prime95 (Blend Modus, bei 2400 RPM) und auf 28° C im Idle Zustand (bei konstanten 1500 RPM). Anders als in der Amazon Produktbeschreibung angegeben, unterstützt der Kühler zusätzlich die Sockel Intel LGA 775/1366/1156/1155 und AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+/FM1/FM2/FM2+.Ich betreibe den CPU Lüfter im Performance Mode (d. h. mein Lüfter dreht nie unter 1500 RPM), wird jedoch der Grand Flex Lüfter im BIOS des ASRock Boards FM2A88M-HD+ auf Standard Mode eingestellt, dann steigt die Idle Temperatur auf ca. 35°C (bei konstanten 1000 RPM). Würde mein kleines Gehäuse einen besseren Airflow ermöglichen wäre sicherlich eine nochmals deutlich bessere Performance zu erwarten.Einzig der Thermalright AXP-100 (von dem ich erst nach Kauf des Promlimatech Samuel 17 gehört habe) ist diesem Kühler ebenwürdig bzw. übertrifft diesen sogar je nach Test nochmals um ein paar wenige Grad Celcius. Daher bekommt der Prolimatech u.a. aufgrund des fehlenden Lüfters von mir 4 Sterne.

Habe den Kühler in einem Fileserver verbaut und halte damit eine älteren Intel C2D 6750 mit 2.67 GHz auf Temperatur. Verbaut ist er in einem Desktopgehäuse, in das kein aktueller Towerkühler von der Höhe reinpasst, daher bot sich der kleine Topdown-Kühler hier an. Ersetzt wird der auch sehr leise Intel Boxed Kühler (volle Bauhöhe) wegen Lagerschaden.Montage:Der Kühler kommt mit Halterungen für die Sockel 1156, 1366, 775, AM2 und AM3. Die Befestigung erfolgt durch Verschrauben von der Rückseite, weshalb das Mainboard bei Gehäusen ohne Sockelzugang ausgebaut werden muss. Die Schrauben sind federgelagert und werden bis zum Anschlag eingedreht, der nötige Anpressdruck ist somit vorgegeben. Eine Backplate ist nicht enthalten, eine Tube hauseigene Wärmeleitpaste (grau, daher Silberpaste oder Imitat) liegt bei.Schrauben für die Befestigung des (nicht mitgelieferten) Lüfters liegen auch bei, dieser darf eine Höhe von 10-25 mm haben.Leistung:Der Kühler ist für HTPCs ausgelegt und daher nicht unbedingt für TDP-Monster geeignet, wodurch das Mitliefern von Halterungen für den Sockel 1366 nicht ganz in das Konzept passt (ein Review mit eine i7-920 las sich auch nicht so prickelnd). Ein kleinerer Prozessor wie der o.g. C2D lässt sich aber leise und passabel kühlen. Angemerkt sei das der Samuel17 durch die geringe Größe relativ viel Luftzug benötigt, mit einem zu langsam drehenden Quirl kann es vor allem bei längerer Vollast warm werden im Gehäuse.Fazit:Guter Kühler für kleine Systeme. Für (watt)starke CPUs fehlen konzeptbedingt die Reserven.

Monté pour refroidir un i5 3570 couplé a un Noctua NF-A 15 Pwm dans une a+ case storm.Montage très facile rentre parfaitement dans ma tour le dissipateur n'est pas très haut mais ne gène pas les barrettes de mémoire qui n'ont pas de dissipateur surdimensionné. Le poids est raisonnable la qualité est au rendez-vous vu le prix heureusement.Niveau performance avec le noctua je ne dépasse pas les 850 Tr/min en jouant donc il est inaudible dans la tour exactement ce que je voulais de la performance en silence.Attention a le couplé avec un ventilateur avec une forte pression car il en a besoin ! Donc n'hésitez pas a mettre aussi un peu d'argent dans le ventilateur.Ensuite le rapport prix performance il y a surement mieux c'est sur.

Habe den Samuel nun seit zwei Monaten im Einsatz und hier meine Erfahrungen:* Verarbeitung: Ab dem Moment, wo man ihn aus der Verpackung nimmt, merkt man wie wertig das Produkt ist.* Sichere Montage mittels Backplate und Schrauben.* Kühlleistunge ist top! Egal welche Review man im Netz durchliest, der Samuel 17 ist derzeit der beste Top-Blower Lüfter! Dies dürfte unter anderem auch an dem etwas größerem Lamellenabstand liegen, sodass der Lüfter die Luft leichter durch die Lamellen "pressen" kann.* Habe den CPU Kühler auf einem Intel i5-2500 montiert und betreibe ihn in einem eher kleinen Thermaltake A30 Gehäuse... Egal wie hoch die CPU Auslastung steigt, die Temperaturen sind immer vergleichsweise niedrig. Bin diese Leistung bisher nur von großen Towerkühlern gewohnt.Fazit: Derzeit wohl das Beste, was es in dem Top-Blower Segment gibt.

Mon troisième samuel 17.Malgré son grand âge, ce ventirad se montre toujours aussi bon en refroidissement et son système de fixations vieillit très bien.Possibilité de le mettre dans le sens qu' on veut (du moins sur socket intel 775/115x).L' absence de ventilateur n'est pas un problème, au moins on peut y mettre ce qu'on veut.Le prix est élevé, mais ce ventirad peut vous accompagner sur plusieurs générations de processeurs.
