Does this control the garage door when not home? do i need to have a homekit apple hub at home setup up for it to work remotely?

How do you make the msg100 discoverable for alexa? i have enabled the skill and searched dozens of times for a new device but it cannot be found.

The device is discoverable if you go to Add New Device and select garage door, then Meross. As wolderiii notes, the instructions tell you to download "smart meross' but IGNORE THAT. Instead, follow the prompts after you selected garage door, then Meross and it will have you download the Meross skill. Once that's done, you can discover your device and set it up. I can now say "Alexa, open / close the garage door" and it works perfectly.

Does it work with it work with overhead door odyssey 1000? I didn’t see it listed on the website.

A good way to check is to jump the two terminals where your wired remote is connected to the garage door opener. If the door opens, when it is closed or closes when it is open, it should work with your model opener.
