I bought this for my cat food operations and do not regret it. I bought his model because it's rated to handle bones, while the smaller models are not. It's easy to clean and sanitize. It grinds up chicken bones (bone-in thighs) very easily. You don't have to cut up the chicken thighs at all; they'll fit whole. I've used it four times already and it makes quick work of everything. Pro tip: Run your organ meats through first, then the chicken, that way you don't have to clean the end piece and blades twice to clear it of cartilage. Pro tip #2 If you do a mix of boneless and bone-in chicken, buy it already deboned! It's well worth the time it otherwise takes to debone 50 thighs.

This machine is a workhorse. It ground four whole chickens, which were cut just small enough to fit through the top hole. It ground bone and all so fast that I wished I had more to process that first time. I also alternated raw spinach leaves and whole carrots with the chickens. I used the larger grinding plate first. Then ran everything through the smaller plate. We now feed our puppy, who was a stray 'Pure Bred White County Black Dog', raw food because he was itching so much. Within two weeks, his coat is shiny, teeth are sparkling and his fur is growing back. Can't wait to use this to make venison burgers this fall and bunny burgers in the spring for us.

Very happy with this product, I almost went with the #12 but I'm glad I got the 22 series. I use it for my dogs raw diet. It grinds up raw bones with no hesitation at all. The knives and plates are stainless look great after the first use. We did 33 pounds of chicken in about 20-25mins, I know it will go even quicker next time as we will be used to the machine. its easy to clean and there is very little meat left in the chute when were done. This grinder does a professional job.

Purchased this to grind chicken backs for my Raw Dog fed dogs. The Weston #22 is the only product on the market that does specifically identify and quarrantee grinding chicken meats etc. Forty pounds box of human grade chicken backs takes less than 15 minutes to grind. The key as product manual says is to have a chilled frig temp. Be sure to purchase food grade Silicone Spray at time of purchase or may have hard time finding in local stores. Shop wisely for that as the Weston food grade silicone spray is highly toxic.

I ordered this grinder to replace another failed Weston grinder and there was no blade. NO BLADE. First of all, how does this even happen? I have animals to feed, I need this grinder right away. So I called their "toll free customer service number" which should be called the "toll free customer NO service number" and got a voice recording telling me to email them. What exactly is the need for a phone number that tells you to email them? Beats me. Now I have to buy a grinder from another company before getting a refund. They should have a HUMAN answering the phone and offering to overnight me a blade at their expense No excuse for this level of incompetence.

This grinder appears to work as advertised, but had clearly been used and not properly cleaned. There is dried blood on the fan and the auger was rusted.

I bought this specifically to grind chicken for dog food. It works great. Chicken bones are no problem. The only thing that I don't like is the guard over the area you put the chicken in. It makes putting in the whole leg quarter (without cutting it) nearly impossible.

Okay, so this thing is just as others have stated.... a “Beast.” Also is pretty quiet, minimal noise. Easy to clean. Using for ourselves & our cats & dog food. Raw chickens for our pets & roasts for our own hamburger. We love this grinder!
