I like the retro look and the simple controls although there is a bit of a learning curve. My old unit had mostly intuitive buttons, so selecting power levels and presets was easy. I never bothered with the manual on my old unit, but I've had to access this one a few times for the special timed cook, reheat, defrost and other settings. It's not overly complex, but you do need some information. I laminated a card with the basic settings I'll use and attached it with a magnet to my fridge.
