**Q: Can the over-the-door hooks adjust to accommodate 1.7" door size?**
A: Yes.

**Q: How far from the top hook is the first cross bar? My door has a coat hook that comes 5 inches down so wondering if it would fit without taking it off**
A: Yes about 6 inches but the shelves are actually some sort of cloth being pulled by the bars and very wobbly. The hook would have to rip thru that cloth and whatever you hang will get in the way. The worst thing is that the top bar is too thick and the door of my closet would not close unless I was willing to sand down the top of the door frame, not a good idea. Whatever you do if you get it, put it together fast so you'll have time to return it.

I’m very impressed with this over the door shoe rack. It was easy to assemble and fits my closet door perfectly. My shoes slide in the spaces easily and I’m able to accommodate 36 pairs of shoes if needed. I love the mesh netting that is part of the product. It keeps everything in place and nothing drops down. I will say my foot size is a 6 and there is a bit of shoe that sticks out over the edge so if you have a much larger shoe size you may prefer to stack your shoes differently.
