I am sure you are able to use your hand, though when using an orbital sanding you would get better results. That is what normally we would recommend. **Q: Can this product be used over water based polyurethane?** A: It’s a combination of a polish and cleaner. I know it works amazing on epoxy. I create katana swords using different woods. I epoxy paint the blade and sanded to a 10,000 grit which still left a haze I was not happy with. This product is the bomb and it brought my sword blade to life. With a polyurethane I’m not sure. It would have to be multiple coats, thick and probably a gloss finish. It may work as poly scratches. **Q: Would this work on an onyx shower?** A: Question! This is really meant to be used on our Epoxy product.
