When I took it out of the wrap, I checked right away that the clip part opened and closed without obvious signs of imminent looseness or mechanical failure. Then I wrapped around my thick pony and held my breath waiting for the inevitible sound of the barrette breaking, but it didn't! It held all of my hair and held it in place. I am actually here to buy another color so I thought I'd leave a review. I will add photos the next time I use it. I hope it holds up, if it doesn't, I'll let you know.
