I was expecting the top of the container - under the lid - to be sealed. but i just open it and the powder is there. no seal. is this normal?

This is normal...the lid is taped to the jar on the outside with clear tape..that is all.

Is this in powder form or pellets? Is it tasty to them?

Powder form---I just sprinkle it on my gelding's feed and he eats it with his grain. Smells find of sweet/fruity to me.
