My double pane Fiberglas patio door keeps getting left open in the middle of Houston summer, so I knew I had to find an answer fast. The solution was the Size 3 Dynasty 3000-ALUM Commercial Grade Door Closer.I just finished installing the Dynasty door closer and the mounting went smoothly and looks great. Heck, the gray finish even matches my door! Some reviewers complain about the door being hard to open; I suspect they put the door closer on wrong. Mine works smooth as silk and takes little effort to open.Since my door frame is Fiberglas, I used a 7/32" (not 1/4") drill bit for the screws. The installation only took 15 minutes and all I needed was a drill, a big Phillips head screwdriver and a pair or pliers or (better) channel locks. The final tension Allen wrench (included) adjustment tweaked the door closing speed perfectly. The instruction template was accurate but confusing for parallel installation. This brings me to my single major gripe.Look, I have some engineering training and have done a ton to home improvement projects. But these instructions were a bear. I needed to do a parallel arm installation on this outward swing door with the hinge on the left. I read the instructions again and again, watched You Tube videos, but finally gave up and took my best guess at what they meant.Happily, I guessed right. I LOVE the finished project with this high quality product. But Dynasty Hardware should redo their instructions and post videos demonstrating the various mounting orientations for their door openers. Or at least include a good 3D rendering with measurements. I'm going to ding them one point for making this simple project so darn confusing.

I work from home, and our kitchen door is right below my office. 100 times a day, our children would go in and out the door and slam it, EACH AND EVERY TIME. It would shake my desk and computer and my coffee! I couldn't even work. Then Fall Break came and my kids weren't in school, and I lost my last window of quiet in the morning. Before insanity set in I ordered the door closer. I was leery as to whether it would even function. But then it came. Turns out, it's the most amazing thing ever manufactured. Easy to install, and the multi-level adjustments allow you to set it so the door closes at just the right speed to a very soft, clean finish where it latches with only a whisper. It's been a few months now, and my life has forever been changed for the better thanks to this. Five stars all the way!

I am amazed at how well this worked for my 125 pound exterior door. We have open shelving on the wall next to this door and it would rattle everything so badly, and eventually vibrate items towards the end of the shelf where they could fall off. Little kids slamming the door etc was the biggest problem.It does the job 100% and there is zero wall rattle now.Read the directions carefully, and slowly digest the info to be sure which mounting style you want to use, as some door situations will force you to only have one choice. Ours required parallel arm style installation due to jamb, trim and also the fact that the interior space is limited on the inswing for this door (to right at 90 degrees before hitting a wall, which I have a bump stop for already).I have a Masonite steel door and drilled a tiny pilot hole to figure out if it was solid, it was not but the sheet metal was thick enough to use the self tapping screws. I would suggest drilling a pilot hole for a steel door as well, although smaller than the suggested wood (jamb mount side) so it can TAP it properly to be able to thread. All screws pulled in perfectly by hand after pilot holes.The included template works great just pay attention to everything, your hinge locations etc.A small word of warning, when you tension the nut to mount the arm it will pull the arm against your door, and you have soft paint on your door like me, it will likely mar it. It was minor but a warning to maybe put a piece of cloth or thick foam between the arm and door during this process would have saved it from a paint scrape.

The provided installation template makes installation simple. It works perfectly every time and the closing speed adjustment and the final close action are fantastic.It exceeded my expectations as the final close action works even when the door is only partially opened and I am now confident that the door will close properly each time..A minor item is that I would have preferred that the initial opening force was adjustable as it is a little firmer than I wanted. Not a deal breaker as it's easy to get used to.
