Will it cut though fiberglass to install speakers in a boat?

I am not 100% sure but I would think so, It cuts thru 3/4 plywood pretty easliy, We also use it on cornhole boards, softwood and gypsum board, Worked great for cutting holes for flush mount lights

Will this work in drywall for led down lighta?

Don't know. Have only used it on timber.

What is the spring for on the drill bit?

It helps to easily remove the piece of wood that gets cut out of the stock you would be cutting. Otherwise it might be hard to get that round piece of wood out of the corn hole saw.
