4 stars for not coming with clear instructions
The unattached curved rod is meant to go through the hoops on the back door so that it stays closed. The loop at the end of the rod should curve through the cage's grate. The long rod attached to the trap plate at the back should be lifted from under the plate with its loop still attached to the hole in the plate and then the loop at the other end of this long rod should attach to the trigger on the door.

no manuel inside the packing. Had to look into you tube to get the idea to set up the cage

Simple & works
The only disadvantage that if a smart cat can take the food without touching the lever.. a smarter cat can pull the back shield and scape if it figures out that it should pull not push, you may overcome that by putting another bar from inside also so it can’t be pulled or pushed .. best thing is remove the animal as soon as it is trapped so it will not try to figures out how to scape
