Amazingly after a year and a half, not only did this kettle start to go belly up but my toaster did as well. I originally bought these Smeg appliances as a treat/upgrade because I liked the look but honestly did not look into anything more about them. So many people seem to have them so I assumed that they must do a good job – – well in my experience they have been terrible purchases. The kettle has never really boiled the water to a hot boiling temperature so the turn off point must be set lower than what you would get if you have a kettle on the stove so to say. I have switched back to a kettle on the stove and have used this just to put warm water over the dog food in the morning, but it’s not even getting that warm after 20 months of use. My Oster office kettle which I purchased 13 years ago is still going strong! As I am leaving my job, I guess I’ll just bring it home and use that instead as my electric kettle. Save your money!

SMEG 50’s Retro Kettle – absolute stunner! Arrived perfect: glossy, no scratches, looks straight out of a magazine cover. 1.7L capacity is huge – one boil and the whole family is sorted. Heats up fast, super solid build, handle stays cool, pours perfectly without a single drip. Put it on the counter and boom – instant kitchen star. Yeah, fingerprints show on the gloss, but one wipe and it’s flawless again. Expensive? Sure. But this isn’t just a kettle, it’s pure joy in appliance form. 10/10, totally in love. 🔥

The kettle looks beautiful and it works fine. But the kettle is actually a plastic handle with plastic parts. It looks very sturdy in the photos but is not so sturdy when you lift it and use it. However I got over the initial surprise that it was somewhat of a cheap plastic product and really do like the way it looks and it does heat the water nicely and works very well. I think for the price of the kettle, I sorta expected it to be more solid. I do like it enough to have bought a second kettle to use at my vacation home. So I did by it twice and I do love the look of the design. Just know it’s not a sturdy kettle so if you have guest or kids who are not courteous to not break the plastic parts, you will have an expensive kettle with broken plastic parts.

La marca es muy buena en diseño y cumple su función principal que es calentar agua, ya hay una versión que te calienta el agua a diferentes temperaturas, lo vi recién recibí el producto, pero en mi caso es suficiente, amantes del té muy puntuales se hubieran arrepentido.

My hotel room in Copenhagen had this kettle, even though it's Italian, not Danish. I fell in love with it, so I had to have one of my own.It's expensive but so stunningly beautiful. The switch is an old-fashioned mechanical fail-proof device - no lights or choosing temperature options, but simple and clean. Doesn't beep, boils quickly, turns off by itself. Worth the money.
